Dear Parents,
We are playing with letters to make words!
Right now, we are concentrating on the sound of
each letter, putting sound + sound + sound together to
practice reading a word by using our sounds.
Instead of spelling a word using letter names (A,B,C)
we put the sounds together to make the word. When we
look at the word written SPOT, we sound it out like
this: /sss/ - /p/ - /ooo/ - /t/. We have learned that
there are 5 vowels: a, e, i, o & u. Just a note: for the vowels,
we do learn the names of the letters, as well as sounds.
On the right side of this sheet are just some of the
words you can make. Below are some little letter cards
you can cut apart and play the Make A Word game with
your child. Its a game were having fun with at school!
