Bullet Bill inspired Crochet Pattern

Needed to make this pattern:

- a 4.00mm crochet needle.
- worsted weight yarn: black (100 grams), white (20 grams) and
grey (just a little bit, could be a left over from a previous crochet
project).
- A lot of filling material! I needed to use the same amount of
filling material I normally use on two couch pillows (40x40cm) in
order to get it stuffed properly.
- A sewing needle
Stitches you need to be able to crochet:
- Magic ring
- Single crochets (UK: double crochet)
- Double crochets (UK: treble crochet)
- Slip stitches (UK: single crochet)
- Chain stitches
- Increasing and decreasing stitches

46.
Now: crochet one row of slip stitches (UK: single crochets).
Make sure you are crocheting the stitches on that side of the
crochet work which will become the inside of Bullet Bill.
47.
After that, crochet one row of single crochets (UK: double
crochets), only on the inside of your crochet work.
To make this more clear, I made some example pictures using a
bulky yarn.
What you had before you made the row with slip stitches (UK:
single crochet):

What it looks like when you have made the row with slip stitches
(UK: single crochet):

How it looks, seen from above:

Now youre going to make a row of single crochets (UK: double

crochet), but only put your needle through the slip stitches (UK:
single crochet). This way, you get a 90 degree angle in your
crochet work.
Making the first row of single crochets (UK: double crochet):

Making the second row of single crochets (UK: double crochet):

Now youve created a 90 degree angle!

62.
Fill Bullet Bill up with the filling material. When youre half
way done with that, start sewing the circle on the back of the
doll. When closing the hole with a sewing needle, keep filling up
the doll until its completely stuffed.

The circles for underneath the arms (with grey):

63.

71.
Create a magic ring with 4 stitches. Dont close it yet.
72.

77.
1 chain stitch, turn, repeat 4x[4 single crochets (UK:

crochet) in the next stitch]. =24st
78.
1 row of single crochets (UK: double crochet). =24st
79.
Cast off.
80.
Repeat step 71 until 79 for the second eye.
The pupil, with black:
81.
Make a chain of 10 stitches.
82.
Close the chain with a slip stitch (UK: single crochet).
83.
Cast off, and sew this tiny circle onto the eye. (Its the
easiest when you do this before you sew the eye onto the body.)

The arms and hands, with white:

84.
Chain 15 stitches.
85.
Close the chain with a slip stitch (UK: single crochet).
86.
15 rows of single crochets (UK: double crochet). =15st
87.
Repeat 5x[2 single crochets (UK: double crochet), crochet
two single crochets (UK: double crochet) in the next stitch].
=20st
88.
Repeat 10x[1 single crochet (UK: double crochet), crochet
two single crochets (UK: double crochet) in the next stitch].
=30st
89.
3 rows of single crochets (UK: double crochet). =30st
90.
Repeat 10x[2 single crochets (UK: double crochet), crochet
two single crochets (UK: double crochet) in the next stitch].
=40st
91.
1 row of single crochets (UK: double crochet). =40st
92.
Fold the hand and make it flat, and divide the entire row in
4 parts of 10 stitches. Every stitch will become one finger.
93.
Skip 10 stitches, and crochet 1 single crochet (UK: double
crochet) in the 11th stitch. Crochet 4 more single crochets (UK:
double crochet), skip 20 stitches, and crochet 5 more single
crochets (UK: double crochet). This tiny round will be finger #2.

94.
Crochet 4 rows of single crochets (UK: double crochet).
=10st
95.
Repeat 7x[crochet two stitches together], close the hole
with a sewing needle and cast off.
96.
Fill this finger with some filling material.
97.
Crochet the other fingers in the same way as described
above, step 93 until 96, until all four fingers are made.

98.
With the last finger, fill it up with the filling material from
the bottom of the arm.
99.

Repeat step 84 until 98 for the second hand.

100.

Now, the hands look like this:

101.
Now weve got to fold the fingers, in
order to make it look like a fist.
102.
First, fold the outer two fingers, and
use the bit of yarn still on the finger to
sew it onto the hand.
103.
Then, sew the other two fingers onto the hand.

104.
The last thing you need to do is make a kind of elbow of
the outer ends of the arms:

105.
Fold the end on the inside of the arm upwards, and fasten
it with a sewing needle onto the arm. This way, the opening of
the arm isnt facing down anymore. When youll sew it onto the
body of the doll now, it will look like the arm is bent.
On the left: the arm before folding the end to the inside.
On the right: the arm after youve fastened the end to the inside
of the arm (the red stripes are stitches, the circle at the bottom
is the opening).

Im sorry for this illustration! I couldnt manage to take a clear

picture of the arms itself.
----Now its time to put the Bullet Bill inspired doll together!
106.
Sew the grey circles onto the body. Place them just below
the middle of the body, about twenty rows in total from the end
of the body, like you can see on the final pictures.
107.
Sew the arms onto the grey circles.

108.

Sew the eyes onto the body, just above the middle.

If youre not exactly sure where to put every part, you can try
some positions out if you fasten everything with (sewing)
needles or pins first onto the body. This way, it gives you a good
view of what everythings going to look like, and its still easy to
make adjustments.
If you want the edges of the ribble in the doll to be a bit more
sharp, you can consider to tighten them in with needle and thread.

Black: outlines Bullet Bill

Red: the thread of the sewing needle.
In order to make the edges more sharp, stick the needle in at the
arrow in top in the right picture, and pull the wire through until the
point where the arrow at the bottom is. Dont pull the yarn too tight,
but just tighten it a little bit.
If youve got any questions about this or other descriptions in the
pattern, dont hesitate to ask! Im there to help you out!
Congratulations! Your own Bullet Bill-like doll is now finished!
