Subject: Kinematics of Machines (10ME44)

Sem: 4th Mechanical(2013-2014)
Staff In charge: Mr.Chethan Madappady

Course Objectives:

To understand the kinematics of mechanical elements such as linkages, gears, and

cams and learn to design such elements to accomplish desired motions or tasks.
To introduce you to kinematics of various real-life machines and mechanisms such as

linkages, Gears, gear trains , Cams etc

To impart students with knowledge about displacement, velocity, acceleration in

machines elements.
To learn the skills of drawing cam profile using drawing aids for different follower
motion.

Learning Outcomes:

An ability to identify, formulating, and solve Mechanical Engineering problems

Students will be able to understand types of motion, mobility condition and kinematic

characteristics of links and joints

An ability to develop and/or design a system or system components to meet desired

specifications, performance, and capabilities.

Students will develop familiarity with application of kinematics theories to real-world

machines.
Student will be able to understand about gear trains and calculation of velocity ratio of

gear train
Student will able to draw and analyse displacement diagram and cam profile
