SCOPE

This PSV Projects Works Instruction Procedure describes the Process Inspection Method to be
adopted to assure compliance to corrosion protection and paint coating specifications, coating
Schedules and clients specific requirements.

2.0

OBJECTIVES

To ensure that the Client requirements and relevant specifications are met prior to and during the
application of such corrosion protection products.

RESPONSIBILITY

Management of Projects shall be responsible for the overall implementation of this Quality Control
Procedure:
(a)

The Quality Manager or his designate for PSV Projects shall be responsible for ..

verifying the implementation of this Procedure.

The site appointed responsible QC 1Works Inspector that shall maintain effective
Inspection & Quality Control of work in progress in accordance to the requirements
of this procedure and relevant specifications.

The Inspector shall ensure that the work conforms to the pre established standards and
shall make certain that he is fully conversant with the Standards and Coating Specification.

The QC shall perform independent monitoring, auditing and surveillance activities as


required to meet the contractual requirements.

(b) The appointed Project Construction Site Manager shall be responsible for maintaining
the quality of product in accordance with the functional requirements of this Procedure and
relevant surface preparation and painting application.

5.0

PROCEDURE
5.1 Material Storage
5.1.1 The Material Controller is to ensure that all material received are identified
correctly as per delivery details and in conjunction with the QC Inspector, shall verify
the correct paint or coating materials are acceptable for the application for the specific
attended site work.
5.1.2 All coating material and solvents shall be stored in conformance with the
Safety Regulation in a suitable store to the manufactures and suppliers recommendation.
5.1.3 The storage room shall be well ventilated, free from excessive heat, sparks
and open flame.
5.1.4 Material susceptible to freezing is kept in a heated storage area in which the
Ambient temperature will remain constantly above 40 deg F.
5.1.5 Material shall be stored by product type, batch and manufactured date. No
open containers of paint and lor coating material or solvent will be permitted in the
storage area.
5.2

General
5.2.1 Painters are to be qualified I experienced to perform coating I paint application
work.
5.2.2 Weather conditions during coating work operations are within the requirements
of the specification of the product regarding surface and ambient temperature, relative
humidity and dew point.
5.2.3 Surface preparation methods and degree of cleanliness shall meet specification
requirements.
5.2.4 Primed or coated steel surfaces are free from loose material, oil, chemicals, weld
scale, rust and dust and any other harmful materials I surface contamination.
All surfaces where the pre-fabrication primer is in good condition shall be degreased
prior to over coating
5.2.5 Blast clean surfaces are primed with proper material having the dry film
thickness specified.
Mixing, thinning and catalyzing of coating material conforms to manufacturers
requirements.

5.2.6 Only coating materials constituting paint systems specified are used. Mixing
of products of different manufacturers within the system will not be permitted
5.2.7 The application of fillers, primers, sealers, intermediate coats and finishing
coats, shall meet requirements of specifications for each coat regarding dry film thickness, uniformity and final colour

DOCUMENTATION
The QC Inspector shall fill in daily reports and forward them to the Site Manager. Depending
on the client requirements and the environment in which the corrosion protection equipment is
to be placed, a standard check list shall be used, this may be altered to suit specified requirements.
All Quality Control and Inspection documentation pertaining Preparation / Protection and Paint
Coatings / Corrosion / DFT Reports / Material Cert. 's & Batch Numbers / Humidity & Temp
Records shall be the inspectors responsibility to keep on file, for final clients acceptance and
Data Book, handover.

Daily Grit Blasting Release
Daily Humidity / Temperature Report
Daily Paint Application & Coating Record
Completion: Work Acceptance Record
