Ashish Mendiratta (PGDIE 88-89)

Most of us engineers, here in India, dream to pass out from one or the other centres
of excellence, be it an IIT, IIM, IISc or NITIE. We constantly strive to secure our seats
in one of these coveted institutes and try to be part of their legacy. There are very
few, who actually get the opportunity to do so. One such gem of a person is Mr.
Ashish Mendiratta who not only did his engineering from the prestigious IIT
Roorkee (1984-88 batch) but also strolled down the corridors of NITIE (PGDIE 8889) to build a repository of management information in supply chain management
and logistics management domains.
He is a seasoned professional having numerous years of experience in the field of
supply chain management, logistics management, strategic sourcing, demand and
supply planning, procurement and material handling. Like most of the managers, he
also had humble beginnings in his professional life but slowly and steadily he
climbed up the corporate ladder by working in companies like Gillette, Nestle, Bilt,
Phillips and Kohler. His last job was at EIH Limited, where he served as a Vice
President Materials. By looking at his career graph one can easily gauge the
perseverance level that is required to reach the stature at which he currently is.
He is currently working in ThinkLink as one of the co- founders of the company. The
company helps in building skills and providing an on-demand talent pool to support
operations in the Supply Chain, Logistics, and Transport domain. His role is centred
on leading the Learning business and helping build learning products and
interventions that can deeply impact the skills landscape within the Supply Chain and
Logistics sector.
Moreover, he has also recently founded one company called Advanchainge which
provides on-demand and customized learning experience in the field of supply chain
management. His last two stints as an entrepreneur suggest his clever
foresightedness due to which he realized a big and widening gap in supply chain
competency to deliver measurable and sustainable supply chain performance.
Apart from this he has also coached many working professional through on the job
projects. He has delivered guest lectures at MDI, FMS and been a visiting faculty at
IILM. He attended a seminar in Case Teaching Method organized by Harvard
Business Publishing. He is a certified trainer in the business simulation The Fresh
Connection and certified Industrial & Commercial trainer by RTITB, UK.
On a concluding note I would like to quote Steve jobs from one of his keynote
speeches, Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow know
what you truly want to become. I believe this quote aptly justifies Mr. Ashishs
achievements in his professional life and we all can jot down some pointers after its
careful evaluation.
