Biochem Lecture
Reflection
It takes me twice, no thrice as long as the average student when getting and

understanding a single Biochemistry lesson. Long nights were devoted and I found it hard trying
to master both the concepts of the lesson and the drawings that accompanied the figures or the
chemical equations. I had to take in cups and cups of coffee to keep myself awake because I
had to learn it, I wanted to learn it. It was the difficulty and the challenge of studying this very
subject that drove me to devote more time for it compared to my other classes.
Unfortunately, despite all the time that I devote for it, not all midnight struggles or
all-nighters were a victory. Ive had my share of significant losses and failed quizzes. However,
whenever I fail, I see it as a learning experience to do better in the next test. There is no failure,
just opportunities to do better next time. The best thing about taking this subject is that my
friends and I are all taking it up. We had group study sessions to help each and every one of us
master the lesson at hand. Knowing that my friends had my back too were a good source of
motivation. Not only was I able to learn new lessons with the help of other people but I was also
able to bond with them and get to know them.
This semester was definitely challenging, with balancing Comparative Anatomy and
Biochemistry, I had a lot on my plate. Although this was the case, I learned many valuable
lessons that were beyond the four corners of my classroom. I was acquainted with the value of
hard work and the trait of persistence and hopefulness. Sometimes, the hardest and most
difficult things that we encounter serve as great instruments for us to learn and to transform
ourselves as better people. It was a one of a kind experience busting my brain to understand
the concepts and trying to improve my creative skills by drawing protein and carbohydrate
structures, but I have no regrets, only smiles.
