Candidates demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging
technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice. (PSC

Artifact: ITEC 7470 Annotated Bibliography/Literature Review
Reflection
This Annotated Bibliography/Literature Review artifact was completed during the fall
semester of 2014 for my ITEC 7470 course on educational research about online project-based
learning. The literature review artifact provides my summary and assessment of the research
articles I used for my exploration of important instructional technology topics such as projectbased learning, culturally-responsive pedagogy, and educational reform. This artifact highlighted
the importance of being able to summarize key concepts, assess the caliber of the chosen
research, and relate the research findings to the selected topic of online project-based learning.
This artifact demonstrates my commitment to the continual growth of my knowledge and
skills of current and emerging technologies. It also showcases my ability to synthesize and apply
new knowledge and skills to improve personal productivity and professional practice.
Throughout my graduate study, I have kept an atmospheric perspective of my goals for inspiring,
supporting, and advocating for greater technology integration and cultural-responsiveness in
student learning. This combined annotated bibliography and literature review was a beneficial
exercise in the process of continuous learning because it required careful selection of high
quality peer-reviewed research. I focused on research from leading experts in the field of
education and instructional technology. The research articles chosen provided a wealth of
knowledge and skills for achieving successful online project-based learning opportunities for
students. I applied the strategies, tools, and resources utilized in the research in both my personal

practices in online learning and my professional practices in supporting online learning in


schools.
Through the research and development of this artifact, I gained new knowledge and skills
to apply in my personal and professional practice using current and emerging technology for
learning. I benefitted from a deeper understanding of the importance of cooperation and support
from real world experts in chosen fields, such as consulting with STEM experts during the
project-based learning process. Virtual reality headsets that operate in conjunction with
smartphones are one emerging technology that I utilize regularly in my personal and professional
practice to explore scenic places around the world. This is just one example of emerging
technology that offers numerous benefits in the realm of continual learning. In the future, I would
like to ensure that all of the research articles I include in literature reviews and annotated
bibliographies are high quality and contain research sample sizes that are larger than some of the
studies conducted in this artifact.
This artifact positively impacted professional development for educators, technology
integration for student learning experiences, and the overall school climate towards 21st century
learning. I gained knowledge and skills from the research studies and insights from the worlds
leading minds in educational technology in order to best serve the needs of todays learners.
Educators benefitted from my adherence to culturally-responsive pedagogical practices in all of
my professional development and individualized coaching sessions. Students improved their
mastery of content and skills through my modeling and facilitation of current and emerging
technology. Continuous learning is one of the most critical factors to personal and professional
success. And it plays a major role in the educational reformation process to guide schools in
technology integration.
