3. An infinite beam on a Winkler foundation has the following properties:
k=0.3kN/mm/mm, E=200GPa. A concentrated load of intensity 25kN is applied to the
beam. Compute the maximum deflection, shear forces, bending moment and slope
acting in the beam. The beam cross-section is I-shaped (flanges:100 x 10mm and web
150 x 8mm)
4. Determine the deflection of the built-in beam on an elastic foundation shown in figure
using finite difference method. The beam is subjected to UDL of intensity,
p=250kN/m, L=4m. take modulus of the foundation as 2 MPa, EI=550 x 109 Nmm2.
Compare the results assuming the node interval, h as 2m and 1m[Jan-15]

B. A cantilever beam 10cm wide, 12cm deep is 4m long and is subjected to an end
load of 500kg. if the curve for the material is given by =7000()0.2 (in kg cm
unit). Determine the maximum stress method and the radius of curvature. [Jan-14]
2. The state of stress at a point is given by x=70MPa, y=120MPa,xy= 35 MPa, if the
yield strength for the material is 125 MPa, check weather yielding will occur
according to Terscas and Von-Miese condition[Jan-14]
3. A rectangular beam of 230mm x 350mm of 3m long carries a central concentrated

determine the maximum stress induced in the beam and compare the results when the
