Step 6 - Framework/curriculum standard video meets
Standard number: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.1.3
Statement/description next to the standard: Write narratives in
which they recount two or more appropriately sequenced events,
include some details regarding what happened, use temporal words to
signal event order, and provide some sense of closure.
Step 7
How will you use the video to teach your lesson? (1 paragraph)
I will use this video to help explain the structure of a narrative to
first graders. I would not show this video in the class, but I would use it
to guide my instruction. I would not show this video itself to my
classroom only because I do not feel it would be age appropriate and
would not hold the attention of first graders. However, I would
reference the ideas in this video in teaching my lesson. I would write a
lesson using the ideas in this video and would present it myself to the
students. Specifically, I would use the same example sentences in the
video and follow the same flow of instruction that the video gives. I
would end my lesson, as the video does, with asking my students to
write their own narrative.
Step 8: Teacher Tube Video 2
Step 10
Name of the video: MP4
Minutes of the video: 1:17
What is the video about? This video models examples of a good and
bad listener. The video models the behavioral expectations (Listening
Rules) in a classroom. The description says, This video was created
using MovieMaker and an MP3 Converter was used to get the music
used in this video and that is why the title is MP4. It also states that
the music was chosen based on a Listening Rules Song that goes along
with the same tune.

Step 11- Framework/curriculum standard the video meets

Standard number: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.K.1.A
Statement or description next to the standard: Follow agreedupon rules for discussions (e.g., listening to others and taking turns
speaking about the topics and texts under discussion).
Step 12
How will you use the video to teach your lesson? (1 paragraph)
This video is great because it gives a visual representation of
classroom expectations. I would show this video to my class. I would
use this video to help me teach listening expectations in my classroom.
I will also teach them the Listening Song and have them sing along
to it. I will also teach them hand gestures to go along with the lyrics in
the song. This will help them make the connections through kinesthetic
events. The Listening Song will be a song that I use all year to
remind my students of the listening expectations in the classroom. This
song will also be used all year to trigger the students so they know that
it is time to listen. This video appeals to special education because it is
visual and gives the students examples of what a good and bad
listener looks like so they are able to understand more easily.
