*3 Wild Customizable cards
*NOTE: The original standard UNO game contains only 108 cards and does not use the Wild
Swap Hands or Wild Customizable Cards.
Object Of The Game: Be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand during each
round and score points for the cards your opponents are left holding. Points scored in each
round accumulate, and the first player to reach 500 points wins the game.
Setting Up The Game:
1. Determine which player goes first. Each player should randomly draw a card from the deck.
The player with the highest numbered card should be the dealer. Count all Action Cards (those
with a symbol instead of a number) as zero.
2. The dealer should then thoroughly shuffle the entire deck and deal each player 7 cards.
3. Place the remaining cards facedown to form a DRAW pile.
4. The top card of the DRAW pile should then be turned over to begin a DISCARD pile.
NOTE: If any Action Cards (those with symbols instead of numbers) are turned over when
starting the DISCARD pile, see the Action Cards section for special instructions.
Game Play: The person to the left of the dealer should start the game (unless otherwise
indicated by an Action Card when starting the DRAW pile). On a players turn, they must match
a card from their hand to the top card of the DISCARD pile, either by number, color or symbol
(symbols represent Action Cards. See that section for special instructions).
Example Of Play: If the card on the DISCARD pile is a red 7, the player must put down a red
card OR a number 7 of any color. The player may also put down a Wild card (see the Action
Cards section for special instructions).

Drawing A Card: If you do not have a card that matches the one on the DISCARD pile, or you
simply do NOT wish to play a card from your hand, you must take the top card from the DRAW
pile. If the card you picked up from the DRAW pile can be played, you may immediately put it
down on the DISCARD pile during the same turn. Once you have taken a card from the DRAW
pile, you may not play a card from your hand during that turn. Game play should then move on
to the next person in turn order around the table.
Action Cards:
Draw Two Card: When this card is played, the next player in the turn order must draw 2 cards
from the DRAW pile and loses their turn. (that player should be skipped and play passes on to
the next player in the turn order) This card may only be played on card with a matching color or
on another Draw Two card. If this card is turned up at the beginning of play, the same rule
applies.
Reverse Card: When this card is played, the direction of play reverses (if play is currently
moving to the left or clockwise, then the direction of play changes to the right or counterclockwise, and vice versa). This card may only be played on a card with a matching color or on
another Reverse card. If this card is turned up at the beginning of play, the dealer goes first
and play moves to the right (counter-clockwise) instead of the left.
Skip Card: When this card is played, the next player should be skipped (that player loses
their turn). This card may only be played on a card with a matching color or on another Skip
card. If this card is turned up at the beginning of play, the player immediately to the left of the
dealer should be skipped, and the player to that persons left should start the game.
Wild Card: When this card is played, the player may choose the color that continues play (any
color may be chosen, including the color in play before the Wild card was put down). You may
play a Wild card on your turn even if you have another playable card in your hand. If a Wild
card is turned up at the beginning of play, the person to the left of the dealer should choose the
color that begins the game.
Wild Draw 4 Card: When this card is played, the player may choose the color that continues
play and the next player in the turn order must draw 4 cards from the DRAW pile and lose their
turn. (that player should be skipped and play passes on to the next player in the turn order)
You may only play a Wild Draw 4 Card if you do NOT have another card in your hand that
matches the COLOR on the DISCARD pile (but it is acceptable to play this card if you have
cards with matching numbers, or other playable Action Cards). If turned up at the beginning of
play, return this card to the deck and pick another card.
NOTE: If you suspect that a Wild Draw 4 Card has been illegally played, (you believe the
player has a card in their hand that matches the COLOR on the DISCARD pile) you may
challenge that player, who must immediately reveal their hand to you. If guilty, that player must
take 4 cards from the DRAW pile (instead of the intended player). If proven innocent, the
accusing player must take 6 cards from the DRAW pile.

Wild Swap Hands Card: When this card is played, the player must choose an opponent and
exchange all cards. (swap all the cards in your hand with all the cards in their hand). The Swap
Hands Card is a Wild Card and may be played on your turn even if you have another playable
card in your hand. Next, choose the color that continues play (any color may be chosen,
including the color in play before the Wild Swap Hands card was put down). If this card is
turned up at the beginning of play, the player to the left of the dealer should choose the color
that begins play.
Wild Customizable Card: Before beginning the game, all participants should agree on the
use of Customizable Cards, their description, and number used. Up to three Customizable
Cards may be used during the game. Using a number two pencil, you can record custom rules
directly on the Wild Customizable Cards, and erase them after the game for future use.
The Wild Customizable Cards are Wild Cards and may be played on your turn even if you
have another playable card in your hand. When this card is played, that player must choose
the color that continues play (any color may be chosen, including the color in play before the
Wild Customizable card was put down). If this card is turned up at the beginning of play, the
player to the left of the dealer should choose the color that begins play.
NOTE: To enjoy a classic game of UNO, simply remove the Wild Swap Hands Card and the
three Wild Customizable Cards from the deck.
Example Of Customized Cards: What follows are some examples of custom rules that can
be used when playing with the Wild Customizable Cards.
1. Pick an opponent who must immediately discard all Wild Cards.
2. Pick an opponent who must immediately take 3 cards from the DRAW pile.
3. Pick an opponent who must immediately draw until they have 7 cards in their hand.
4. You may discard down to 3 cards.
5. You may take an extra turn.
6. You may look at the top 3 cards in the DRAW pile, but must keep one.
House Rules:
Jump-In Uno: In this variation a player may immediately assume control of the game (it
becomes their turn regardless of whose turn it actually is) if they possess the exact same card
that is on top of the discard pile. The matching card must be placed on top of the discard pile
immediately, and that player may then play normally (take a turn) with game play then passing
to that players left (clockwise).
Seven-O Uno: In this variation, players pass their entire hand to their opponent on the left
(clockwise direction) when certain cards are played. The trigger cards for this variation should
be agreed upon by all players before the game begins. An example of a trigger card can
include the number 7, or any Wild card.

Progressive Uno: If a Draw Two or a Wild Draw 4 card is played, the recipient may
immediately play the exact same card, effectively passing the result on to the next player in the
turn order. The total number of cards drawn should never exceed the original (first) Draw card
that was played with this variation.
Ultra Progressive Uno: If a Draw Two or a Wild Draw 4 card is played, the recipient may
immediately play the exact same card effectively passing the result on to the next player in the
turn order, adding the result of the additional card. The number of cards drawn with this
variation is equal to the total of all Draw cards played.
Ultra Progressive Example: A Draw Two card is played, its recipient immediately plays
another Draw Two card (requiring the next player to now draw 4 cards). That player follows suit
and plays another Draw Two card (forcing the next player to draw 6 cards) who also gets lucky
and plays yet another Draw Two card which means the next player must pick up 8 cards from
the DRAW pile (or play another Draw Two card!).
Ending A Round: When you play the next-to-last card from your hand, you must declare
UNO (which means one in Spanish) to your opponents indicating that you now have only
one card remaining in your hand. If you fail to declare UNO and are caught before the next
player begins their turn, you must take two cards from the DRAW pile.
Once a player empties their hand of all cards, the round ends. All players should total their
points (see Scoring), and a new round should begin.
If the last card played in a round is a Draw Two or Wild Draw 4 card, the recipient must take
the required cards from the DRAW pile before totaling their score.
If the DRAW pile is depleted of all cards, thoroughly reshuffle the DISCARD pile and continue
play normally.
Scoring: The first player to empty their hand of all cards receives points for the cards
remaining in their opponents hands as follows:

All number cards (0-9)
Draw Two
Reverse
Skip
Wild
Wild Draw 4
Wild Swap Hands
Customizable Cards

Each player should total their score at the end of every round. If no player has reached 500
points, reshuffle the DISCARD pile and begin a new round.
Winning The Game: The first player to reach 500 points is the winner.

Alternate Scoring Method: Each player should total their score at the end of every round.
Once a player accumulates 500 points, the game ends and the player with the lowest score is
the winner.
Challenge UNO: This rules variation is considered the most challenging way to play UNO by
the designers of the game, and is recommended for 3 or more players. With Challenge UNO,
the Alternate Scoring Method from above is used. Players should keep a running total of their
score (at the end of each round). When a player accumulates 500 points (or any other
predetermined agreed upon amount), they are eliminated from the game. When only two
players remain, they should continue playing by utilizing the rules for two player games below.
Play should proceed until only one player remains (the other player has been eliminated).
Special Rules For Two Player Games: When playing UNO with only two players, please
keep the following rules in mind:
1. Playing a Reverse card works exactly the same as playing a Skip card in two player games.
After playing a Reverse card, you may immediately play another card.
2. After playing a Skip card, you may immediately play another card.
3. If you play a Draw Two or Wild Draw 4 card, you may immediately play another card while
your opponent takes the required cards from the DRAW pile. (unless you are playing with the
Progressive or Ultra Progressive rules from above and your opponent plays a matching card)
Partners Or Team Play: UNO can be played with Partners (requires a minimum of four
players) or with Multiple Team Mates by having the round end when any member of your team
gets rid of all the cards in their hand. Partners should sit across from one another when
possible. Teams should always have the same number of players on each side.
Blank Cards: Some UNO games come with four blank cards. These blank cards can be used
to replace a lost or damaged card, and as a house rule or customized card. See the
appropriate sections above regarding house rules and customized cards.
