2. Click inside the orange rings to set the wind speed and direction.
3. Click the sail or engine controls to start your voyage.

Feature Summary

compass to set the wind direction (in
five-degree increments). Click inside the
orange lines to set the wind speed (in
one-knot increments).

Engine Settings
Click Strt or Of to start or stop the engine.
Click N for neutral, R for reverse, or 1 or 2 for
forward movement.

Sails and Hiking

Click Main, Jib, or Spin to raise or lower sails.
Click the left or right arrows (left of the sail control
buttons) to change hiking.

Race/Cruise Mode
Click the circled R or C to choose race or cruise mode.

Course Indicator
A blue arrow will appear on the compass when you are in motion to indicate your course.

Waypoint System
There are two buttons for controlling the waypoint system. The WP
button is ued to turn the waypoint system on and of and to choose which
waypoint is active. The flag icon button is used to set the current waypoint to the current
location. Waypoints may also be defined in a notecard. Waypoints are not limited to the
current region; they are grid-wide.

Defining waypoints
There are two ways to define waypoints: manually using the flag icon, or by specifying SLURLs
in a notecard.
To manually set a waypoint to your current location, click the WP button to select which
waypoint to change, then click the flag icon and hold the mouse down for more than one
second. The waypoint will be set to the current location, overwriting the previous waypoint
location. Waypoint locations can be changed, but not deleted.
To set waypoints using a notecard, edit the HUD, click the Contents tab, and open the
notecard named waypoints. The format is a list of SLURLs, one per line, with the waypoint
number specified at the beginning of each line. For example:
1 secondlife://Nautilus - Byth/252/228
2 secondlife://Blake%20Sea%20-%20Haggerty/244/104/20
5 secondlife://Blake Coast/24/216
The waypoints notecard is automatically re-read each time you edit and modify it. Using the
flag icon to change a waypoint overrides a waypoint previously specified by the notecard.

Sequencing waypoints
By default, the current waypoint will automatically sequence to the next waypoint when you
travel within ten meters of the current waypoint. The yellow hovertext will flash briefly to let
you know when you have reached a waypoint.
You can always click the WP button to manually sequence to the next waypoint.

Customization
There are two parameters that can be specified in the description field of the HUD object. To
change the description field, right-click the HUD object in inventory and edit its properties.
If you are currently wearing the HUD, you must detach and reattach it for the changes to take
efect.

The parameter wpmax sets the maximum number of waypoints allowed. If not specified,
the maximum number is five, or the highest waypoint number specified in the waypoints
notecard, whichever is larger. For example, to allow 20 waypoints, insert wpmax 20
somewhere in the HUD's description field.

The parameter wpradius sets the distance from the current waypoint that triggers autosequencing to the next waypoint. If not specified, the default is ten meters. For example, to
change the radius to 20 meters, insert wpradius 20 somewhere in the HUD's description
field. To disable auto-sequencing, insert wpradius 0 in the description field.

Find Rez Areas

Your deluxe HUD can locate rez areas in the region you are in. (A rez area
means a parcel that permits public rezzing of objects.) To find a rez area,
click the Rez button.
Hovertext will show you the status of the search. When you are currently positioned in a rez
parcel, the hovertext will change from green to purple. The direction of the nearest rez area
will be indicated on the compass with a green arrow. It works best to search for rez areas
while you are stopped or not moving very fast, because the searcher will always display the
nearest rez area to where you initiated the search, not from your current location if you're
moving.
It can take up to a minute to locate a single tiny rez area in a region.
Click the X next to the Rez button to stop the searching. If the search has stopped, click the X
again to clear the hovertext display and the related compass arrow.

Autopilot Operation
Click the Auto button to turn the boat's autopilot on or of. The autopilot
automatically keeps the sails trimmed for you to match your current

course and wind.

Optionally, if autopilot is of, you can click the circle bullseys icon next to the Auto button to
quickly trim the sails and return to manual trimming. The HUD accomplishes this by turning
the autopilot on and of quickly, just long enough for the boat to trim the sails for the current
conditions.

Other Buttons
Click the oval on the far left to
enable or disable the fenders.
Click Moor to stop the boat and
drop anchor.
Click Give or Take to give or take
boat controls.
Click Bag to enable or disable the sleeping bags in the cabin.
Click Inv to invert the rudder controls.
Click the camera icon to enable or disable the cinematic camera.
Click the minimize button (in the upper right) to minimize the HUD. Click the minimized HUD
to unminimize it.

Customization
Your control HUD is modifiable, so you can edit it and change its size, transparency, or
position on the screen.

Version history

Troubleshooting
It's a good idea to make a copy of the factory original HUD. If something doesn't seem to be
working right, delete the troublesome copy and start over with a copy of the factory original.
If this user manual does not answer your questions, IM Becky Pippen in-world for support.

Acknowledgments
