DEVELOPMENT
Developer JBG plans to build 226 apartments and attract a small-format grocery store in a new
development project at Glover Parks former Holiday Inn site at 2101 Wisconsin Ave. NW.
Following harsh criticisms from the D.C. Historic Preservation Office, developers of the Sunoco
service station property at 2200 P St. NW have put their application process on hold to seek a
compromise on the proposed design.
EDUCATION
Reversing an earlier decision, the mayor and D.C. Public Schools have opted to continue the Fillmore
Arts Center program through the 2017-18 school year but only three of the five schools currently
participating in the program will receive arts instruction there.
TRANSPORTATION
After a year and a half of delays, the D.C. Department of Transportation is again preparing to move
forward in a few weeks with 15 months of repairs to the Pennsylvania Avenue bridge over Rock Creek
that connects Georgetown to the West End.

Cleveland Park is preparing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its firehouse with a celebration on
Sunday.
HOLIDAYS IN WASHINGTON
Two traditional holiday house tours are scheduled for this weekend in Kalorama and in Logan Circle.
The U.S. Botanic Garden is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service by using
natural materials to re-create famed sites from the Grand Canyon and Old Faithful to D.C.'s own
Peirce Mill and Old Stone House.
This year's Tenley WinterFest is bigger than ever thanks to the neighborhood's new Main Street
group.
Amid the excitement and activity of the holiday season, there are numerous local donation drives that
benefit D.C.s most in need and improve their holiday season.

Editorial: While we're still eager to learn more about the mayor's schools chancellor nominee, most of
what we know about Antwan Wilson makes us optimistic.

DowntownDC Business Improvement District.
Sherwood: It appears the D.C. Council is about to pass some form of paid family leave but amid
dueling proposals, wrangling is continuing about the details.

Maret capped off its perfect football season on Saturday with a 46-7 rout of Roosevelt and its first
state championship trophy.
National Cathedral junior Page Lester extended her stellar season with a top-5 finish at the Foot
Locker Northeast Regional championship on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
