Students perform better if
they come to school. The
BPS district has had difficulty
with attendance rates,
especially with the older
students. My vision during
summer school is to increase
student attendance and
implement a plan that can be
utilized in the upcoming
school year. In addition, I
want to create a strong Math
curriculum that will be
utilized school-wide that is
appropriate and addresses
the Common Core Standards.
As part of my vision to
improve instructional
practices and improve
student performance on the
NYS Math tests, I will create
and design a curriculum
aligned with the common
core standards.
In order to implement my
vision of improving
instruction, I plan to
implement professional
development that will also
provide support, monitoring
and instructional rounds.
My vision will require
monitoring and
implementation of the
curriculum and also
supporting the teachers with
what they need in order to
implement this.
I will once again be in charge
of the Parent Engagement
committee and I will also
chair the beginning of the
year event in August that
welcomes the parents back to
school. During the event, I
will ask parents for input on
how best to assist them with
the Math curriculum. In the
past, we have had many

This is something that I enjoy doing because it

involves bringing the parents in and they are part
of their childs education. It is difficult to
accomplish this in the city. However I was able to
bring in over 300 people and many new families
into this event. It is a very large undertaking but I
was able to delegate and coordinate the event so it
ran smoothly. An district representative attended
and said it was the best event run in the district.

Supervising the summer school with

7th and 8th graders will prove to be a
challenge. I plan on working with
the assistant principal and the Dean
of students on promoting a positive
school environment and
implementing PBIS when needed
and working on improving
attendance as well.
I will continue to work on
improving instructional
practices, specifically on
Math instruction.

I worked with the Dean on a daily basis to improve

attendance. The policy we started will continue
through the year.

Lesson planning is a continuous process but

coming up with this template will really help the
teachers be purposeful with their planning.

Managing the organization

includes being part of
scheduling, managing staff
and students at the same
time. I plan on being a part
of the scheduling process and
also helping the staff with
their class placements as
well.
Working with 7 and 8th graders
during summer school, my plan is to
work very closely with the Dean of
Students on a daily basis managing
the operations of summer school.

This was a very difficult task and gave me an

appreciation of how an administrator needs to
work tirelessly on this process.

Master schedule

For the most part, the summer school ran

smoothly. However, we did have to suspend a few
students because of behavior.

As part of the leadership

team, I will have the
opportunity to be involved
with the budget and ordering
resources for various events
for the upcoming school year.

This is a very involved process but its also

important for the upcoming year. Luckily I had
experience with this from the previous year.

Attendance during the

summer months and regular
school year is crucial in order
to have success in school. I
will work with the Dean of
Students to implement and
maintain an attendance
policy that will improve
student attendance. I will
also be chairing the Parent
Involvement committee that
will plan all events for the
summer and for the
upcoming year.
Our school is currently a SIG
school and is low performing
but most of the parents and
the community isnt aware of
this. I plan on getting the
surrounding community more
aware and involved with our
struggling school.

I really enjoy running the parent events and I will

continue to do this throughout the year. My goal is
to have more parents, Arabic, Somalia, Mai Mai,
Nepali, attend classes to learn English.

upcoming year for all
events.

I worked with the Assistant Principal to produce a

parent newsletter. This is a monthly document
that will go out and communicate events to the
parents. This has really had a positive impact on
the parents.

This year I would like to bring

in an outside business
organization to become our

our students.

I had a meeting with Ingram Micro and Im very

Becoming an instructional
coach in the upcoming year,
I will need to act with
integrity when attending and

This is going to be ongoing throughout the entire

year. I do enjoy conducting professional

and use best practices.

teacher with curriculum and
instructional strategies.
While assisting these
teachers I will be act in a fair
and nonjudgmental way.

Last year I was a general education teacher, and

this year I am a Math Instructional Coach. This will
be a bit of a transition, but I have the trust of the
staff since I have been teaching for the past six
years.

I think that I will continue to act with integrity and I

always have had confidentiality dealing with
parents and students.

This year many schools in

the Buffalo School district
have been classified as a
receivership school and
we are under a new

attending these meetings
that will discuss this and
new policies as well as
the 3012D for teacher
evaluations.
Under receivership, we
need to maintain a
certain amount of
Extended Learning Time.
I plan on coordinating the
after school program
during the summer for
the upcoming year.

I have been very closely involved in this process

and will attend future meetings as well. This is a
very interesting process that involves the school,
state, and district.

DTSDE report

I ran the after school program last year and

continue to enjoy this. This year we are
incorporating more of a project-based learning style
that will utilize Next Lesson. We are hoping to have
higher attendance and engaged students.

As the new Math

Instructional coach, I will

to align with the NYS
common core standards.

I will continue to unpack the standards. The Math

Modules from EngageNY are not aligned to the
standards and need to be unpacked. This is the
only program that the Buffalo Public Schools has
adopted and there are gaps.

My internship will prepare

me to become a successful

experience when working in
an administrative position.

I have had many days where I have been put in as

Assistant Principal and this has been a great
experience! I have learned that I have to run all day
and you may not have a lunch break! However, it is
about managing time and supporting teachers.

This has provided me with

hours.

will continue to do so.
