Amplifier

The Definition of Amplifier

Amplifier is an electronic device that can be used to amplify the power or
energy. In general the amplifier will amplify the sound signal that amplify the
signal current (I) and voltage (V) from the electrical input. While output of the
amplifier will be electrical current and voltage is greater.
The magnitude of the amplifier is often called as the gain. The value of the
gain is expressed as a function of audio frequency amplifier. The value of the gain
in power amplifier usually between 20 times until 100 times of the input signal. So,
the value of the gain is the quotient of the power at the output (Pout) with the power
at the input (Pin), in the form of a function of frequency. And Gain unit expressed
in the form of desibel (dB).
The value of the gain:

G(dB) = 10 log (Pout / Pin)

In electronics circuit, the amplifier usually used to makes the music sound
without distortion, for the signal power amplifier, add strength to push power
subwoofer so that more optimal, and also can be used to providing power all
volume levels that fit and evenly. Such as: volume control, bass, treble, balance,
and loudness.
The Types of Amplifier
In general amplifier can be classified into many types, then if we classify
amplifier based on the class, the amplifier can be divided into 4 types, namely:
Amplifier class A, class B, class AB, and class D. And now I will tell you about it
one by one.
1. Amplifier Class A
Amplifier class A is a type of amplifier that is capable of producing the
best sound quality. However in matters of energy consumption, this type of
amplifier is relatively wasteful and fast heat. The selling price of this amplifier
is also relatively expensive, can reach up to Rp. 20 million per unit.

2. Amplifier Class B
Amplifier class B is a type of amplifier that has the resulting sound
quality is quite good as an amplifiers class A. Although not as good as
amplifier class A, but it has no excess heat quickly and not wasteful of energy.
3. Amplifier Class AB
Amplifier class AB is a type of amplifier that is most widely used
amplifiers. That said, the result of merging of categories A and B. In addition to
the resulting sound better than category B, he also walk in fast heat and too
wasteful of energy.
4. Amplifier Class D
Amplifier in this category also includes the most widely used. However,
specific to drive a subwoofer concept SPL (sound pressure level). This class of
amplifier power (watts) is large and capable burdened to less than 1 Ohm. As a
result, the issuance bass sound even more dynamic.
There are many types of operational amplifier, namely: Comparator, Inverting
Amplifier, Non-Inverting Amplifier, and Differential Amplifier. And each other
type of operational amplifier has different function.
1. Comparator
Comparator is one of the applications that take advantage of the strengthening
of the open (open-loop gain) operational amplifier is very large. There is a
special type of operational amplifier which is enabled solely for the use of this
and a bit different from the other and a common operational amplifier also
called a comparator. The comparator compares two electrical voltage and
change the output to indicate where a higher voltage.
2. Inverting Amplifier
Inverting amplifier using negative feedback to reverse and strengthen a missed
most voltage. Resistor (Rf) output signal back to the input, because take phase
output of 180. The output value is effectively reduce the size of the input. This
reduces the overall gain of the amplifier and the so called negative feedback.
The negative sign indicates that the output is a reversal of the input.
3. Non-Inverting Amplifier
Non-inverting amplifier is the opposite of the inverting amplifier, which input
is inserted at the non-inverting input so that the polarity of the output will be
the same as the polarity of the input but have reinforcement depending on the
size and Rinput and Rfeedback. Thus, the non-inverting amplifier has a
minimum reinforcement is 1. Because the voltage of the input signal is

connected directly to the input on the operational amplifier input impedance

value.
4. Differential Amplifier
Differential amplifier is used to find the difference of two voltages which have
been multiplied by a certain constant determined by the resistance value that is
equal to and.
The Application of Amplifier
In electronics circuit, the amplifier usually used to makes the music sound
without distortion, for the signal power amplifier, add strength to push power
subwoofer so that more optimal, and also can be used to providing power all
volume levels that fit and evenly. Such as: volume control, bass, treble, balance,
and loudness.
And now, I will tell you one of the application of Amplifier that name
Operational amplifier (Op-Amp). Operational amplifier is the one of application of
the amplifier that usually used to amplify input signal. Operational amplifier has 2
input terminal that name inverting and non inverting, and also only consists of an
output terminal. There are many types of operational amplifier, namely:
comparator, inverting amplifier, non-inverting amplifier, and differential amplifier.
And each other type of operational amplifier has different function.
Op-amp widely used in electronic devices as an amplifier, sensor, raised her
voice, buffered signal, amplifies the signal, integrating signals. In addition it is also
used in the voltage regulation, active filters, instrument, analog to digital converter.
