He wanted privacy to instruct disciples about Gods redemption plan
Son of Man = messianic title of divinity and humanity (Dan 7:13-14)
He is the unique one dual nature of humanity and divinity (7:13)
He is the One who with dominion in an everlasting kingdom (7:14)
The messiah did come first to deliver but from sin not political powers
The disciples did not understand about the resurrection

Progressive revelation from Genesis to Rev i.e.
Genesis 3:15 = the basic promise of the seed who will crush the serpent
Deut 8:15 = God will send another prophet like Moses (Jesus)
Isaiah 9:6-7 = presents the king born in line of David, mighty God
Isaiah 53:11 = the suffering servant who takes our iniquities
Psalm 22 = the crucifixion in detail cited by Jesus on cross (Mk 15:34)
Psalm 16:10 = prophesies the resurrection of Messiah
Mark 9:30-32 = Jesus states it clearly here (and elsewhere)
Acts 13:34-39 = later on, Paul explains this resurrection to the Jews

In the house Jesus asked for a confession to further teach them
The disciples were silent under conviction for their selfish ambition
If anyone wants to be first, let him be last of all and servant of all?

They were amazed and others were afraid 2 emotions / 2 reasons:
Amazed at teaching he just gave so inverted to worlds philosophy
Afraid to head to Jerusalem Jesus said his death awaited there

Not mindful of what God was doing but seeking own glory
They dont know what they are asking yet are confident they can do it
The other ten heard it and were angry with James and John why?
