The advisement I received from the Center of Academic Excellence was especially helpful in guiding me through the registration process for the spring semester. First off, I was able to better understand the curriculum guide for my major. For example, a recommended course for next semester is listed as BUED 110. From the meeting, I learned that BUED was short for Business Education and the actual class was Business Computer Applications. I also learned how to look up courses on Aggie Access online. I was able to use this experience to implement the habits of being proactive and beginning with the end in mind. Instead of waiting until the last possible moment, I sought advisement pretty early on. In doing this, I had already had my code and a clear picture of the courses I should take when registration began. In filling out my schedule, I didnt just look at next semester. I examined how my immediate future could affect my overall future and eventual graduation. This process prompted me to familiarize myself with different departments within the university that might prove to be valuable in the future. I was forced to see my academic advisor to get my registration code. Before that, I never had a reason to visit the Accounting & Finance department. Going forward, I can see myself returning if I have any questions regarding my major. Aside from that, I learned about the various programs offered by the CAE. Overall, I feel as though my registration experience for the Spring 2017 semester was a positive one.
