Hidrogenasi asam lemak methyester menjadi alkohol lemak

2.1 Unit hidrogenasi

Conversion to alcohol increases with temperature but so does the
formation of hydrocarbons.
Different temperature is needed for the production of saturated fatty
alcohol and unsaturated fatty alcohol in the reactors.
The optimum temperature is controlled by regulating the amount of
fuel gas fired in the furnace, thereby controlling the inlet temperature of the
hydrogen to the reactor. As the hydrogen supplies the majority of the heat to
the reactor, control of its temperature ensures a constant reaction
temperature.
The reactor effluent exchanges heat with recycle hydrogen in the
dischanger/hydrogen exchanger 105E5 and enters the hp hot separator
105D12.
Fatty alcohol from hp hot separator 105D12 is let down to 25 bar in the
Hot Expansion Vessell 105D13 where residual hydrogen and methanol are
flashed off and recycled back to the H2 compressor suction vessel 105D18.
The fatty alcohol is let down to approx 3 bar and enters the separator
105D39 where the expansion gas is routed to the Condenser 105E28. The
fatty alcohol enters the Alcohol Filters 105D4/5 where any fine catalyst
particles are removed. The fatty alcohol enters the Stripper 105D36.

The methanol is stripped overhead with live steam entering the


stripper below the bottom tray.
The vapors are partly condensed in the dephlegmator at the top of the
stripper in order to recover the high boilers (esters and fatty alcohols).
The overhead vapor product is condense in the condenser 105E28
together with the flash vapors from the methanol stream from HP Separator
Gas Coler 105E9 and from the Separator 105D39.
The remaining expansion gas leaves the condenser 105E28 and further
methanol vapors are condensed in the Vent Cooler 105E35 where the
uncondensed gases are routed to Flare system.
The mixed crude methanol stream leaving the Condenser 105D28 and
the Vent Cooler 105E35 is collected in the Stripper OVHD Drum 105F2 and
pumped 105G55/56 to the tankfarm.
The bottom product is dried in the lower part of the Stripper 105D36
and in the Reboiler 105E29 is heated with LP-steam.
The bottom product leaving 105E29 is cooled in the crude product
cooler 105E18, collected in one chamber of the crude alcohol vessel 105F1,
and after checking the methanol and water content sent with the crude
product pump 105G53/54 to the tankfarm.
Any recovered crud fatty alcohol from section 107, Methanol recovery,
is returned to the Alcohol Filter 105D4/5 and routed to the Stripper 105D36.
