Embedded Worksheets
Understanding Embedded Worksheets

Embedded worksheets (also known as Subtab worksheets) allow you to view a worksheet within
a worksheet.
A worksheet can include an embedded worksheet that is associated with any of the levels in the
main worksheet. Then when a user selects a member in the main worksheet, the embedded
worksheet shows the details. The embedded worksheet is displayed in a subtab.
Unlike regular worksheets, embedded worksheets can include levels not used in the main
worksheet. An embedded worksheet can also be aggregated differently. For example, you can
create an embedded worksheet that is associated with any of the levels in the main worksheet.
Then, when you select a member in the main worksheet, the embedded worksheet shows the
details for that level.
Embedded worksheets are not necessarily synchronized with the rest of the worksheet. You can
configure Demantra to either synchronize these worksheets automatically, or on demand. If
embedded worksheets are set to synchronize on demand, you can use the Synchronize
Activities right-click option to refresh them with whatever is currently selected.

Worksheet Filters
Worksheet Filters
Worksheet filters control which data is retrieved from the database. You can filter worksheets on
a particular aggregation level. These levels can differ from the worksheet definitions. Filters are
positive: they determine what information is included in the worksheet.
Filters can be used in multiple places:
Worksheets. For example, a worksheet might show only Brand X, which means that the
worksheet would show only combinations related to Brand X.
User definition. For example, if you are an account manager, your user ID might give you
access only to your accounts. At any level, you would not be able to see combinations
associated with other accounts.
Filtering is useful for both security and performance. For example, you may want to filter out
sensitive financial data for some users, or reduce the amount of data so that the worksheet
refreshes quicker. To minimize worksheet sizes, you can define large numbers of similar
worksheets, each filtered to a different subset (such as a different brand).

When you run a worksheet, Demantra automatically combines all relevant filters. The worksheet
displays only data relevant to the members that are permitted by all the filters.
For example, suppose that you create two filters for your worksheet:
Product Category = Monitors, Printers (worksheet filter)
Sales Channel = Direct (another worksheet filter)
The net effect of these filters is:
The worksheet ignores all database records that that are not in the Monitors and Printers
product category.
The worksheet ignores all database records that refer to stores that are not within the
Direct sales channel.

Using Open and Open With
Using Open and Open With

The Open and Open With options allow you to filter worksheets using the right-click menu:
Open opens the default worksheet for that level, with the full worksheet definitions and
filters.
Open With gives you the option of opening any worksheet configured for that level,
filtered to the specified member.
You can configure which Open With context is used when opening a worksheet:
just the member you clicked.
the complete context of that member where you clicked it.
The context for the Open and Open With options is configured within the worksheet definition.
