Pillar College Receives State Approval for Masters Degree

Newark, NJ, December 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- New Jersey State Secretary of Higher Education, Dr.
Rochelle Hendricks, has informed President David E. Schroeder that Pillar College is approved to offer
its first graduate degree - the Master of Arts in Counseling. This degree program enables Pillar College
graduates to pursue licensure as an NJ State Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Upon receipt of the Secretary's letter, President Schroeder shared: We are excited to expand the
educational opportunities that Pillar offers in Newark, and throughout the Garden State's urban areas,
with our new graduate degree program in Counseling. It will further prepare our students to become
transformational leaders impacting their communities with clarity, peace, and reconciliation through
various methods of professional counseling.
Provost Dan Wright announced to the campus community in an email that We are grateful to God for
answered prayer, and so proud of the entire team that worked tirelessly to make this happen.
The two-year, 60 credit, Master's degree program begins this January at the College's Newark campus.
The program's unique cohort format will meet two evenings per week with an all-day Saturday option
available as well. Another unique feature of our adult-friendly Master's program is that students are not
required to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), said Mrs. Giselle Llerena, Director of Admissions.
Pillar College is a 106-year-old undergraduate institution of higher learning, which provides a
Christ-centered education to persons of diverse backgrounds and Christian traditions. Pillar College is
licensed by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education and is accredited by Middle States
Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Pillar College is also accredited by the Association for
