Friends and Partners,

I have dedicated this issue of The Routine to help you
prepare for promotion. How? By eliminating the clutter in your life and simply getting organized.
Although making your bed, loading the dishwasher or
trashing the McDonalds bag from your car may seem
like petty issues, it reveals your standard of excellence.
When you begin caring more for the small matters
of your day-to-day living, you are literally preparing
yourself for greater things: a nicer car, nicer dishes and
nicer bedding.
Matthew 25:21 says, You have been faithful with a
few things; I will put you in charge of many things
Rick Renner says, How a person treats his home usually reveals to you how he will treat your organization.
I am so convinced of this that before I place someone
in a top leadership position on our team, I pay a visit
to his houseunannounced. Wow!
How would you react if I were to show up at your front
door today? Or what if I asked if you could drive me to
lunch today in your car? Would you be embarrassed?
Humiliated? Mortified? Or would you feel proud and
confident with the overall condition of your lifestyle?
Its been said that the way you do anything is the way
you do everything. In other words, if your bed remains
half-made perhaps your dream will continue to be halfachieved.
As you begin getting organized and taking care of the
smaller issues of your life, you are preparing for the
bigger dreams and goals God wants you to conquer!
And heres the cool part: it only takes 20 minutes!
Thats something I can wrap my mind around.
Clutter is costly. It steals your time, your energy and
your peace. Once youre able to enjoy a clutter-free
life, you are fully free to embrace your future, so lets
get organized! R

Routine///Spring/Summer_2013 3

Have you ever been really excited about

new ideas, new projects, or new goals,
but then lose enthusiasm and end up
with lots of half-finished projects?

Let me give you a few examples and see if you

can identify with any of these:
Perhaps you decided to learn a foreign language
so you spent $450 on Rosetta Stone. You
practiced it every day for two weeks and then
stopped. Now it is months later and all you can
say is Ou sont les toilettes? (Where are the
toilets?)
You started a Zumba class! You felt crazy at
first but then loved it so you signed up for a 12
month membership. You went consistently for
five weeks, but now its been four months since
you attended class. You feel fat, and you wasted

money.
Maybe you had a backyard project in mind
for the summer. After buying the lumber and
supplies, you put it in your garage and havent
done anything since.
Are you the type of person who washes and dries
your clothes, but then throw them in a big pile
on the floor and pull out whatever you need
each day?
Think about this: 5 completed projects would
be far greater than 15 half finished ones!

Its been said that the way you do

anything is the way you do everything.
If your house is a big disorganized
mess, it could be reflecting how big of
a disorganized mess your life and your
mind is.
Did you know that there is a link
between the organization of your
surroundings and the organization of
your life? Or putting it bluntly: clutter
blocks success.
I want you to prepare to be promoted.
How? By cleaning out the clutter.
Look at the cost of clutter by Jennifer
Ford Berry:
Clutter causes you to feel
overwhelmed and depressed.
Clutter robs you of your energy.
Clutter steal 50% of your storage
space.
Clutter makes life harder. You
have to look longer, travel further
and dig deeper to find what you are
looking for.

Clutter takes longer to clean.

Clutter costs you money. If you
cant find what you need, you will
have to buy a replacement or worse,
you could be paying to store your
clutter.
Clutter makes it harder to think
straight.
Clutter may affect how you feel

6 Routine///Spring/Summer_2013 TERRI.COM

about yourself. You may be self-conscious or

feel guilty about your clutter.
Clutter can affect your relationships. If you
feel ashamed of your cluttered house, you
may be less likely to invite friends and family
for visits.
Clutter takes away the peace and beauty
of a home.
A couple years ago I started writing a book. I
worked on it for a few days nonstop hoping to
have it written by the end of the next month.
But because I was traveling all over teaching,
I had to stop. I kept thinking I would pick it
back up when I was home more. But I wasnt
home more, I was gone more. So, I put it off
even longer.
Meanwhile, I had another book on my heart to
write. I started jotting down ideas for it whenever
I could find time. Id be sitting on a plane, and
I would write points for this other book. It was
a small book that I thought shouldnt take too
long to write.
Then I started writing the 5 Years from Now
notebook. I got about 75% of it done, but I was
traveling and working on new messages nearly
every week and it also was put on hold.

At the end of the year, who was benefiting

from these projects God put on my heart? No
one. Not only was no one benefiting but I was
stressed out and uneasy inside because nothing
was complete. It drained energy from me,
discouraged me, and frustrated me.
The Bible tells us in James 1:8, A doubleminded man is unstable in all his ways. How
many of his ways? All of them!
When you start things and dont finish them,
not only do they take up physical space but they
also take up mental space. All of your unfinished
projects are draining your energy and stealing
your peace!
I love how the New American Standard Version
of Matthew 25:21 says: Because you were loyal
with small things, I will let you care for much
greater things.
Cleaning up your messes allows you to focus
with more energy on the future.
Messes are more than just physical. They can be
found anywhere. A mess can be defined as any
disagreement between the way you desire your life
to be and the way it actually is.
Your marriage could be a mess. Your family
relationships, your emotions, your career,

"Cleaning up your messes allows

you to focus with more energy
on the future."
Routine///Spring/Summer_2013 7

your weight, your finances. Anything that is in

disagreement with your desires including your
dreams and goals could be a mess.
Physical messes are easy to understand (beds
left unmade, bills piled up, boxes needing to
be unpacked, dishes in the sink, etc). What is a
mental mess? Anything taking up space in your
mind that is left unfinished. It could be:
A phone call that needs to be made
An apology that needs to be said
A relationship that needs to be severed
A book that needs to be finished
A degree that needs to be pursued
A bill that needs to be paid off
A promise that needs to be kept
A thank you that needs to be written
A will that needs to be settled

that you need to be doing. Its done. Youre at

peace. Now, you can focus on the bigger picture.
How many unfinished projects do you have in
your life? When we dont complete what we
start or we leave clutter in our lives, we arent
free to fully embrace the future.
Remember: 5 things completed have more
power than 15 things half completed!
One finished book that can go out and influence
the world is better than nine books half written.
One kitchen thats thoroughly organized and
cleaned with everything in its place, smelling
good, shining, and feeling peaceful is better
than every single room half way clean or messy.
(continued on pg. 12)

Ive noticed that successful people are organized.

Why? Disorder causes a lack of peace, and
clutter is definitely disorder. Clutter makes
you feel incomplete, incompetent, incapable of
accomplishing things, embarrassed, annoyed,
depressed and even makes you feel bad.

If you are embarrassed about the condition

of your life, it causes a lack of confidence.
Think of how good you feel when you walk
in your house and its clean and in order.
Doesnt it bring peace? It makes you feel
good all around when your surroundings are
in order. You can accomplish more of your
goals when your clutter is cleaned up. Why?
Because your mind isnt preoccupied with all

8 Routine///Spring/Summer_2013

Are you ready to get organized but dont know where to start? Whether cleaning out a closet, kitchen
cabinets or kids room, follow my S.P.A.C.E. formula to make the task manageable, methodical and
rewarding. The key to succeeding with the SPACE formula is to do every one of the steps, and most
importantly, to do them in order. Attack and complete one room at a time for the biggest sense of
accomplishment and success.

TERRIS TIP:

START SMALL:

When you begin to

declutter, start with
something visible and
small like one shelf,
table or countertop.
This will help you see
quick results and give
you the motivation to
continue to other areas.

Sort:

No matter what you are organizing, from papers to clothes to toys, start by
grouping similar items just to see what you have. Clear a space on the floor,
begin in one corner, and circle the room- putting each item into a category. Resist the urge to
focus on throwing things out right away--its much easier to decide what to keep and what to toss
once you have some perspective on how much youve accumulated in each category.

Purge:

Now, going pile by pile, review the contents, asking yourself of each
item: Do I use this? Do I love this? If you answer yes to either
question, keep it. If no, out it goes. Most of us only use about 20% of everything we own. E.g.
we wear the same 20% of our clothing, refer back to the same 20% of our files, and listen to the
same 20% of our CDs over and over again. Still, purging is the toughest step. To make it easier,
keep the following in mind:

Toss the no-brainers: items that are obviously in such bad shape, and so irrelevant
to your current life, that youd never dream of using them: e.g. dried-up pens, stained,
torn or pilled clothing, and rusty safety pins.

Adopt-a-charity or friend. Give away items you bought long ago, but have never actually
used no matter how much you spent on them! Its much easier to part with things if
theyre going to a person or organization you care about.

Focus on the payoff youll glean from lightening your load: Spacefor the things
you really use and love; Timesaved from searching thru all the clutter; Moneythat
keeping the clutter is costing you; and Satisfactionby sharing the items, you never
use, with the world.

Assign a home:

Decide precisely where

youre going to store each
category of keepers. Be specific- Which shelf, which drawer, which section of the rod, which side
of the bed? Keep frequency of use, accessibility, and logical sequencing in mind when assigning
homes. E.g. workout wear might make sense next to bathing suits. Dress shirts next to blazers.

Containerize:

Containers allow you to personalize

and beautify your system. By
waiting until this stage to go shopping, youll be sure to get the exact containers you need. Make a
list, measure the spaces you containers must fit into, and take your tape measure to the store. Label
containers to make it easy for you and your family to remember what goes where.

Equalize:

Once your system is in place, design a simple

maintenance program. A well organized room takes
no more than five minutes to clean up at the end of each day no matter how messy it gets.
Annual Tune-ups will ensure your system keeps pace with your changing needs, possessions and
priorities. R

Here is my suggestion: Focus on one thing 20

minutes each day.

What could you do in 20 minutes?

1.

Study that foreign language for 20

minutes driving to work. Every day for 5
days = 1 hour/week. Thats approximately
87 hours of studying a foreign language in one
year. I think you could parlez francais.

2.
3.

Call a friend or relative during your

commute home.

Eliminate 20 minutes of television

each night to dedicate to organizing
one room. Focus on that one room
and one room alone until its exactly the way
you want it.

4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.

Read the Bible every day. Read the

book of Proverbs. There are 31
proverbs. You can pick the chapter
that matches the day of the month.
Pray before you head off to work. Set
the alarm 20 minutes early.

Clean up the dishes before going to

bed. Load the dish washer. Wash the
counter tops off. Go to bed in peace.

Clean out the refrigerator.

Clean out your purse.

Clean out your car. Start a habit of

emptying all the trash out while
youre getting gas.

10.

Go for a walk. Instead of waiting

until you have that extra hour
a day to work out. Start with a
20 minute walk in your neighborhood. Or go
in the gym and walk on the treadmill for 20
minutes. Its better than no minutes!
Most organization experts recommend starting
in the room that you spend the most time in.
And start with what you can see. Dont start
with inside the dresser drawers. Start with
whats visible to the eyes. That way your
progress will be seen and it will motivate you
to finish. Set the timer for 20 minutes and get
started.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

START TAKING A FEW SMALL
STEPS TODAY TO GETTING
THERE. AS YOU GAIN CONTROL OF
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CLUTTER,
YOU WILL POSITION YOURSELF
FOR THE PROMOTIONS GOD HAS
IN STORE FOR YOU. R

TERRIS TIP:

ORGANIZED IN 20 MINUTES:

Instead of trying to find a day you

can spend hours organizing and
clearing out clutter, all you need
is 20 minutes. If you will spend 20
minutes a day working on an area,
slow and steady, you will get your
surroundings in order and you
will develop a habit to keep it that
way.

ENGLAND: Bristol, Leeds, London

Bristol We held a ladies conference with people attending from Scotland,
Ireland, Wales, South Africa, Albania and all over England.
A group of teenage girls who have been reading Terris book, Untangle and
filling up their My Personal Dreams And Goals notebooks flew in from Scotland
to be a part of the conference and could hardly wait to share how Terri Savelle
Foy Ministries has given them vision.
Plans are now being made to hold ICING: Scotland in 2014! Icing is also
spreading to ICING: Ireland in 2014 as well!
One young lady was a former prostitute in London, received forgiveness, left
her pain at the altar and embraced a new beginning. She shared with Terri her
revived dream of going to college!
Other ladies broke free from shame, guilt, self-harm, drug & alcohol abuse.
Leeds We took the train from London to the financial and commercial heart
of West Yorkshire arriving in Leeds, England. Terri taught success principles
from the Word of God and watched them make the connection from head
knowledge to biblical truth!
London Terri was humbled to meet people from all over England who went
the extra mile (or kilometer!) by train, bus and carpool to be at her conference.
God is awakening the dreams of those who were insecure, ashamed, afraid and
inhibited by their past. Lives were transformed and hope renewed to fulfill their
divine purpose.

FRANCE: Paris, Nice

Paris Terri spoke at a ladies tea at Paris Centre Chretien.
Ladies were born again at a tea party! We ministered Sunday
to about 2,000 people and the altar was filled with men only.
It was amazing to see the men respond to the invitation for
salvation from a woman! Terri challenged them to not only
get a vision for their lives, but to write it down and bring
it to the evening session that very night. That evening the
auditorium was packed out with people presenting their
dreams and goals and stating it is written before the Lord.
Nice we held our first Icing womens event on the French
Riviera! These ladies embraced la vie en rose (the pink
life) with a passion! Those who have struggled with this
Christianity thing were intrigued to attend simply out of
curiosity. A motivational message and a patisserie (cupcake)
opened their hearts to the Gospel of Jesus!

I prayed over
their futures
and invited my
dear friend,
Pam Winters, to
pray over their
success. In France,
having a dream
is considered a
waste of time.
It proved to be a
defining moment
of witnessing
these precious
French people
giving themselves
permission to
dream . . . and
dream big!

In a nation where Christian literature is scarce, they were

thrilled to receive a FREE copy of Terris book, Untangle
(Delier) and literally begged us for more French resources. A
special merci beaucoup to Eagle Mountain International
Church for their support that made this possible.
Our vision is to have every book, every article and every
magazine translated in the French language. We must make
every effort possible to teach them how to fulfill their life
assignment according to Gods Word. R

Routine///Spring/Summer_2013 15

Hi Terri!
I am 40 years old and until this past New Years Eve, I
havent set any goals at all for myself! I literally just drifted
through life quickly trying to get each day done. How
sad. Since I started listening to your podcasts I am happy
to say that I set a few goals for myself this year. I now have
great hopes and dreams and seriously it is because of you!
I want you to know that you are a beautiful inspiration to
me and I look forward to listening to your podcast each
week. I have learned so much about everyday life and
how to make it magnificent! Thank you for all that you do!
My vision board is beautiful and my dream book is still
in the making, but I love working on it. It gives me hope
for my future.
With love and gratitude,

When the Lord prompted

Terri to begin this ministry
in 2008, He placed a strong
desire in her heart to reach
out to teenage girls.
Since that time thousands of faith-filled
teaching resources have been given away to
young women ages 13 to 21.
Terri is uniquely gifted to share Gods
truths regarding self-image, confidence,
overcoming the past, and getting a vision
for your God-given purpose. We receive
testimonies all the time from parents saying
their children will listen to Terri even when
they wont listen to others.
Our goal is to develop the Free to Dream
resource package this year. This package
will contain the ministry resources of Broken, Mended and Made Whole 3-CD series,
Can You Imagine 3-CD series, My Personal
Dreams and Goals notebook, and Make Your
Dreams Bigger Than Your Memories book.
This $80 resource package will be given
away to girls entering girls homes to receive
much-need help and guidance. Whether
they are seeking support for self-harm, pregnancy, eating disorders, abuse, or human
trafficking; we know the most powerful
thing we can do is to provide Gods Word
in a practical and applicable way.
To sponsor 1000 teenage girls with the
Free to Dream packages, the cost is
$80,000 (thats simply $1000 people giving
$80). Will you join with Terri as a monthly
partner or make a one-time gift of $80 to
help us accomplish this goal and continue
to reach out to you and others all over the
world? R
