SMATV SYSTEM
GENERAL
Scope of Work:
WAVE MUSCAT requires complete hardware & software solution for the
SMATV IF Method as per drawings and complete specifications.

SUMMARY
WAVE MUSCAT requests for installation of a turnkey solution for creating
SMATV - IF SYSTEM
Final design and location of installed Screens should be coordinated during
construction with interior design contractor.

REFERENCES
Work shall be carried out according to normal installation practice. All
equipment shall be supplied by recognized Manufacturers. The quality of the
equipment proposed will comply with the relevant international standards.

All the equipment and installations shall comply with:

All standards, code requirements and authority recommendations
applicable at the Tender date.

UL Listing: The system and all its components shall be listed by Underwriters
Laboratories Inc. or approved equal.

C.

All System components should be passed the tests as mentioned in the


standards. Certificate of these tests should be submitted.

SUBMITTALS
The contractor shall submit the following prior to installations:

Submit to the Engineer shop drawings, product data (including cut sheets
and catalog information). The engineer/designer will indicate approval of
shop drawings, product data, and samples submitted to the Engineer by

stamping such submittals APPROVED" with a stamp. Submitted shop


drawings shall be initialed or signed by the Contractor, showing the date
and the Contractor's legitimate firm name.
The Engineers approval of shop drawings, product data, and samples
submitted by the Contractor shall not relieve the Contractor of
responsibility
For deviations from requirements of the contract documents, unless the
Contractor has specifically informed the Engineer in writing of such
deviation at time of submittal, and the Engineer has given written approval
of the specific deviation.

General: Submit the following:


a.

The installer reference with similar projects.

b.

Certificates from the Manufacturer illustrating that the installer has the
qualified personnel to perform design, installation and configuration for the
provided equipments. Personnel certificates from the manufacturer must
be submitted. The certificates must be appropriate with the requirement
with the required configuration & maintenance expected tasks.

c.

Proposed schedule for installations and configurations. Complete set of


manuals and software illustrating the installation and configuration
processes along with the periodic maintenance procedures.

d.

Submit tables of all offered equipment listing the power consumption, and
heat dissipation for all modules, sub-modules and parts.

e.

The Contractor shall submit the version number and date for all offered
hardware and software, and must provide the product/software road map
for all offered software / firmware modules indicating the new updates and
releases, and the effect of these updates on current system. All supplied
hardware and software should come with latest version of software/
firmware installed.

f.

Submit the list of country of origin for all the proposed items, and list of all
OEM (original equipment manufacturer) programs with their partners

g.

Hands on Training schedule illustrating the studying hours along with the
materials. The training shall include installation, content creation and
configuration detailed steps along with the maintenance and operation
strategy.

Shop drawings: Submit the following:

At least two months before beginning work, the Contractor shall provide a
complete set of shop drawings and an Execution Report, including:
a. Schematics, drawing and documents list.
b. Complete schematics of the proposed systems and devices, with at least:
The function of each device;
The physical and logical organizational diagram of the system;
c. This Execution Report shall be given to the Client's Representative's
Technical Consultant for validation.

At the end of each working phase, the Contractor shall provide a complete set
of as built document including:
a. All prior documents requested for execution and completed in accordance
with the real executed works.
b. Technical data sheets, references and catalogues of installed equipment
and software manufacturers
c. The configuration files will be given to the Client Representative Technical
Consultant for validation.

Project Record Drawings:


A. Submit project record drawings at conclusion of the project and include:

Compliance sheet item by item providing a comparison between each item


specifies herein and each item submitted and deviations justifications if there
is any.

C. Any anomaly or non-conformity identified in the documents and any omission


of documents shall be subject to a deduction in warranty.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.

All materials and equipment supplied by the Contractor shall be new latest
and proven technology in communication systems, and shall meet or exceed
the latest published specification of the manufacturers in all respects. All
materials and components shall be compatible with each other and with the

services they shall interface with, the contractor shall submit certificates of
compliance from manufacturers.
B.

All equipments and materials shall be the products of recognized


manufacturers. The Contractor shall supply the latest model available at the
time of order placement for each piece of equipment/materials. If a newer
version becomes available within thirty (30) days of the issuance of a
purchase order by the Employer or if a new technology becomes available
that offers an alternative to selected equipment or materials the
Contractor shall offer to substitute such new equipment or materials for the
selected equipment and materials. The Employer shall decide whether or not
such substitutions are appropriate and prices shall be adjusted to reflect
increases or decreases in cost to Employer. The cost of any changes to
infrastructure cabling or physical plant design due to such changes will be
included in the cost revision presented to the client prior to Employer
acceptance.

C.

Approved Equivalent Substitution: The Contractor may propose an Employer


approved equivalent device. Requests for hardware substitution shall be
submitted in writing and include the hardware cut sheet and the exact
configuration being proposed.

D.

Component Testing: All electronic components are to be factory tested in prior


to installation.

E.

System Support: Factory fax/telephone/email support shall be available free of


charge during normal business hours.

F.

Compliance: Comply with applicable portions of relevant standards pertaining


to types of electrical equipment and enclosures. All equipment shall be UL
listed, or equivalent.

G.

Sub-Contractor Qualification:
a. The Contractor should have experience of implementing & operating the
SMATV system in Villas and commercial fields.
b. To ensure the system has continued support, the Sub-Contractor shall
have a successful history of installation, service and support and must
have a minimum of five (5) years of experience.
c. The Sub-Contractor's installation personnel shall meet the manufacturers
training and education requirements of extended warranty program. The
training certificates obtained from the manufacturer shall be submitted.
d. The Sub-Contractor should be recognized as an Authorized Vendor
Partner for five (5) years at least.

e. On-site support personnel should be certified on the products supplied by


the Manufacturer with minimum 3 years.
DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A.

Costs of all shipping to the site, and of all unusual storage requirements, shall
be done by the Contractor. It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to
make appropriate arrangements and to coordinate with authorized personnel
at the site for the proper acceptance, handling, protection, and storage of
equipment so delivered.

B.

Movement of material, either at the time of delivery or subsequently, shall be


the sole responsibility of the contractor. All costs associated with this
movement shall also be the responsibility of the contractor.

C.

The contractor shall be responsible for the safe storage of all equipment. In
the event of equipment damage or disappearance from the site, the contractor
Shall bear full responsibility and all costs associated with equipment
replacement at no additional cost to the Owner.
WARRANTY
Manufacturer shall warrant specified equipment to be free from defects in
materials and workmanship for the period stated in the main contract and
starting from the date of hand over.
MAINTENANCE SERVICE

A.

Maintenance Contract: Obtain an undertaking by the equipment manufacturer


and his authorized local representative to provide an annual maintenance
contract, available after substantial completion of the work, covering routine
service and emergency service by trained employees, and to ensure supply of
necessary standard spare parts.

B.

Initial Maintenance Service: Beginning at Substantial Completion, provide 24


months' full maintenance service by skilled, competent employees of the
Installer. Include monthly preventive maintenance, repair or replacement of
worn or defective components, cleaning, and adjusting as required for proper
operation. Use parts and supplies as used in the manufacture and installation
of original equipment.
1. Perform maintenance, including emergency call back service, during
normal working hours.
2. Include 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week emergency call back service.

TESTS AND ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA


Equipment Test: Unless requirement is waived, materials shall be tested and
manufacturer's test reports certifying that materials meet the requirements of
the listed standards shall be submitted.
All Configurations must be delivered, reviewed and accepted before the
system initial acceptance.
Technical Specifications of the Equipment
The system shall be designed for the reception and distribution of all available
channels through the receiver based system, compatible for all free to air and
pay channels.
Above signals shall be distributed over a single coaxial cable to the TV outlet
sockets through individual receiver. The location of the dish antennas shall be
as shown in the drawings. The TV wall outlets should be three in one with
satellite, TV& radio receiving option.
The satellite IF processing equipment shall be housed in a lockable flush
mounted 650mm x 500mm box. The box should have proper ventilation and
exhaust facility.
The system should be designed to provide minimum signal level of 60db micro
volt and maximum of 75 db micro volt (+/- 2db) at the wall outlet within the
whole building without any interference.
Main trunk and TVRO distribution cables shall be 75 ohms low loss coaxial
RG-11 cable and final distribution cable shall be 75 ohms coaxial RG-6 cable.

The system should be designed to professional standard using professional
equipment.
Dish Antenna
Satellite dish antenna shall be 3 nos, of 4 ft. These should be suitable to
provide signal with minimum 14db C/N ratio. There should be a weatherproof
cover for the LNB or the LNB provided should be weather protected. Mounting
stands shall be made of epoxy coated schedule 40 steel with proper mounting
studs. Quality of antenna shall be of high grade and shall fully comply with the
relevant BS specifications.
Satellite dish antenna shall be complete with feed horn, LNBF, mounting stand
etc., with all necessary accessories as required for proper functioning of the
system.

Satellite switcher
Satellite IF processing equipment shall have ultra-broadband switching
network with maximum frequency range available at the time of execution with
future expandable facility. The IF processing equipment should have eight IF
inputs for eight nos of satellite input connection. The satellite processor
should have the capability of sending RF signals through it. The IF processing
equipment should have an in built integrated SMPS power supply which will
power the LNBS and the microprocessor.
Coaxial Cables
Cable shall be inner copper conductor and outer copper shield, with high
efficiency, lightweight and reliability. The inner conductor shall be solid
electrolytic copper and outer sheath to be copper shield. The cable should be
of the best quality and should not change characteristics due to high
temperature and humid weather conditions.
Main Trunk cable: Low loss 75 ohms RG-11
Final Distribution cable: Low loss 75 ohms RG-6 with 10.5 db attenuation at
240 Mhz/100mts and 18.5db attenuation at 862 Mhz at 100mts.

Testing and Commissioning


The contractor in the presence of the Resident Engineer/Consultant shall
perform acceptance test of the system installed with all relevant details.
The contractor shall provide all necessary instruments such as filed strength
meters, signal generators and other devices required for such tests.
