A Kaplan turbine runner has an outer diameter of 4.5m and hub
diameter of 2.0m . It develops 20MW of power while running at
140rpm. The head is known to be 20m. Assuming overall
efficiency of 85%, find (a) the discharge through the turbine, (b)
the angle between the absolute inlet velocity and the peripheral
velocity at the tip, and (c) the inlet blade angle at midradius of
the blades. (Assume hydraulic efficiency = 0.94).
