RAMMED

EARTH

AS

ECO-FRIENDLY

AND

SUSTAINABLE

BUILDING MATERIALS
II.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY: (refers to the overview of the

project

discussing

the

factors

that

have

led

to

the

conceptualization of the problem).

Building a rammed-earth wall involves compressing a damp
mixture

of

earth

that

of sand, gravel and clay

has

into

suitable

an

proportions

externally

supported

frame or mould, creating either a solid wall of earth or

individual blocks. Rammed-earth structures are thought to
be

more

sustainable

and

environmentally

friendly

than

popular building techniques. In modern variations of the

method,

rammed-earth

walls

are

constructed

on

top

of

conventional footings or a reinforced concrete slab base.

Some modern builders also add coloured oxides or other
items, such as bottles, tires, or pieces of timber, to
add variety to the structure.

III. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: (refers to the problems, both

general and specific, which the research proponent hopes
to solve or offer solutions to).
The study aims to determine the use of a rammed earth in
any aspect of constructing. Specifically, it sought to
answer the following sub problem: 1.) what would be the
effect through the user health? 2.) does this material is
better

in

any

aspect

of

construction?

3.)

how

material make a sustainable and eco living material?

this

of

the

study

to

environment g. society in general).

To the Users: this study aims the user satisfaction

of the cost and construction of a building and more
eco-friendly. To the Community: this study concern
all about the health of the community, also in the
environment

to

make

it

an

easy

life.

To

the

Environment: this study makes the environment more

peaceful and not harmful to the environment. To the
Researchers: this research may serve as basis for the
future study that researchers will conduct regarding or
related to this topic.
V.

SCOPE

AND

DELIMITATION:

(refers

to

the

scope

or

inclusive frame/s of reference as well as limitation/s of

the study).
This study was conducted to make more sustainable houses
in a part of an area in the Philippine that will make it
useful in any aspect. This study is limited on a part of
the Philippines that will need to have a sustainable and
healthy environment. So the main agenda of this research
is to make a questionnaire about the awareness of our
environment and the negative and positive effect of the
material that will use in construction.
