Added support for exporting loaded data to a Global Mapper package file
(*.gmp). These files are similar to workspace files except that the actual data is
stored in the files. Package files provide an easy way to pass around lots of data
between Global Mapper users with a single self-contained file.

HDF file format.

the sum of the squares of the pixel width and pixel height was greater than about 4

marked as invisible, even with very large transmitter heights.
Added support for loading 8-bit BIL elevation files (previously they were always
treated as grayscale imagery, now the user will be asked unless the file contains
DEM in the name).
Added option to force raster and elevation data created from most batch
conversions to have square pixels. This helps prevent problems with less capable

workspace, then loaded from the workspace and saved once again to a workspace
would no longer be loaded.
Added support for SRTM height files with a little endian byte order.
Added support for BIL files with Intermap format headers.

using lower resolution color imagery, such as LandSat photos.
Added an additional option to the Generic ASCII import to allow specification of
a criteria for determining which grid points should be treated as invalid when

Made view sheds be created so that you can initially see through the covered areas
to the data underneath.
Added support for reading PNG images with world files.

be exported to any of the supported elevation and raster formats, can have line of
sight and view shed analysis performed on it, and can have contour lines
generated from it.

imagery.
Added datums for the major planetary bodies in our solar system.
Added a new shader, the 'Slope Shader' that allows terrain to be colored based on

text files from scripts.
Fixed problem with auto-clipping collars when the datum of the current view
projection is not the same as the datum of the image whose collar is being clipped.
Fixed placement of coordinate line attributes when using the Generic ASCII
importer. Previously they would be associated with the next line in the file rather
than with the coordinate in the line they were read from. This only affected
imports which treated all coordinates as point features.
Made the projection selector dialog when importing remember the last selection
picked and use it as an initial setting.
Added an option to the GENERATE_PATH_PROFILE script command to allow
it to save land usage codes from any loaded LULC data sets in addition to the
elevation for each point along the path.
Fixed bug with coordinate calculations using the ED50 (European 1950) datum.
The wrong ellipsoid had been referenced resulting in an error in the northing
value that resulted from coordinate conversion calculations.
Increased the precision that coordinates are stored in, resulting in the preservation
of sub-meter resolutions.

the exported results work much better with the latest Terragen versions.

State Plane zone list not being updated to reflect
the list of available zones when the datum was changed.

multiple elevation values. Now the elevation
resulting in the highest contour classification is
used rather than the first elevation in the list.
9) Added auto-detection of Wisconsin DRGs from the
Wisconsin DNR that are in the Wisconsin Transverse
Mercator 1983/91 projection rather than UTM.
WHAT'S NEW IN Global Mapper v4.55
