1.

[1 mins.] Bridge/Hook/Opening to lesson:

Tell students that today we will revisit our goals for September because we are halfway through
the month. Explain that goals are something that needs to be thought about throughout rather than
at the end. Lay out the order of the lesson.

2. [4 mins.] Present the idea of SMART goals

3. [5 mins.] Quick-write
Students will quietly work on their own to reflect on their progress from August to September and
onward. A timer will be projected.
4. [ 8 mins] Turn-and-talk
Students will turn to their neighbor and share their reflection. They will provide suggestions to
peers on how to meet goals. Teacher will float, providing feedback to pairs. A timer will be
projected.
5. [ 4 mins] Revisit
The students will have time to revisit goals based on peer feedback and reflection. I will tell them
that they should write their revisions on their goal setting sheet, not their reflection sheet. This
will act as our closure activity as well.

6. [1 mins] Closure:
Tell students we will revisit goals at the end of the month. Tell them that the teachers are
resources to help them meet their goals as well as peers.

Attention to Individual Student Needs: (Differentiation):

Detail specific actions/materials you will use to differentiate instruction in this lesson. Use specific student names when
appropriate

Supplementing curriculum so no differentiation needed
