Illuminate Ed

Assigning an Assessment to Your Students

Assigning an assessment to your roster of students in Illuminate Ed takes only a few steps.

Step 1. Log into Illuminate Ed using the link on the district website. Your login ID is your email
address.

Step 2. After logging in, click on Assessments in the top tool bar and select List
Assessments from the pop up menu window.

The next screen lists all of the assessments available to your account. Previous search filters will
remain in place and may prevent you from seeing some assessments. A good practice is to click
on the Clear button before searching for your assessment.
All ELPS assessments start with ELPS in their name and you can type ELPS in the search bar
and click on the Search button.

Step 3. Search for & select your assessment. When you find your assessment in the list, click
on the blue title of the assessment. If this is the first time accessing and assigning the
assessment, you will get this pop up:

The new mathematics assessments have three options for each unit:
1. Paper/Pencil - (either Form A or Form B and you complete the coversheet then enter
your coversheet data into IE
2. Form A Online - The Form A assessment can be given online but the classroom teacher
will still need to go into Illuminate Ed to score the open response test. Once scored, the
data is automatically in IE, no completion of a coversheet is necessary.
3. Form B Online - The Form B assessment, also given online, will be automatically scored
and no further work is required by the classroom teacher.

Step 4. If your students are taking this assessment online, then click on Online in the list of
options in the pop up window displayed above.

Step 5. The next window displays the details of the online assessment and you need to add a
roster to the assessment. Click the Add Roster button in the upper right side of the screen.
The next screen appears very busy but you only need to click on a few things.

Step 6. Under the Sections portion, you can click on your home room section to capture your
students or (if you team teach) click only on the section that will take the online assessment. See
the picture below.

Step 7. Next (VERY IMPORTANT), you need to click on the SHOW link next to Online Testing
Administration Settings and click on the dropdown next to Inline Booklet to select the
material that accompanies the assessment. There will only be one assessment booklet available
to click on. See below. Failure to perform this step will result in students not seeing the question
booklet during the online test. Step 8. Click SAVE to assign the assessment to the section

identified.
