The engineer is required to carry out the no-load, locked- rotor and de tests to determine cirouit parameters of the induction motor. Table 2 presents the results from the no-load and locked-rotor tests and Table 3 shows the results from the de test. ‘Table 2: Induction Motor No-Load and Locked-Rotor Test Results No-Load Test | Locked-Rotor Test Line Voltage 440 V ~~ 100V Line Current aA 324 Input Power (39) | 42 W 3000 W Test Frequency 50 Hz 10 Hz ‘Table 3: Induction Motor DC-Test Results DC Test | ‘oltage | 30V DC Current | 188A | ‘Table 4: NEMA Designs- Rules for Dividing Rotor and Stator Circuit Reactance Induction motor rotor design Wound rotor Design A Design B “Design © Design D a) DRAW the equivalent circuit of the induction motor and LABEL the circuit parameter values of the induction motor. Show all your calculations. You may refer to ‘Table 4 for your calculations, [10 marks} Normally, if the induction motor is operated at the rated voltage and rated frequency, the output power of the motor will be at the rated power. The induction motor is used to drive a load which power can be assumed to vary with the motor speed as pa Poa = 75 (Tatra) RW, Page 3 of 8 PEEB283, Semester 2 2013/2014 ‘The motor is controlled using the constant volt/H4z drive scheme. If the stator voltage applied to the induction motor has a frequeney of 40 Hz, b) DETERMINE the following, the magnitude of the applied stator voltage, ji, the motor slip, and i, efficiency {10 marks] (Note: Assume that the motor rotational loss at the rated power is $00 W and that the power loss is constant.) ©) EXPLAIN the effects of reducing the stator voltage frequency on the flux level ‘operating torque and rated output power of the induction motor.
