Clintons Inspiration

At the Democratic National Convention, Michelle Obama gave an inspiring and powerful
speech on behalf of Hillary Clinton. Her message and sincerity could be felt by anyone watching.
Obamas words as First Lady and a concerned mother gave the audience the ability to trust her
judgment. She convinces the American people, voters, and the world as to why Clinton is the
best candidate in this election. Obama effectively influences the audience to support and vote for
Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
Michelle Obama advocating for Clinton has such a profound effect due to her credibility.
She is an educated woman having graduated from some of the most prestigious schools including
Harvard University and Princeton. She supported her husband in the 2008 election and went on
to become First Lady. As First Lady, she witnessed the dedication, hard work, and sacrifice it
took her husband to be president. Those qualities that allowed President Obama to be in the
White House for 8 years are same the ones she sees in Clinton. Michelle Obama states, And I
am here tonight because in this election there is only one person who I trust with that
responsibility, only one person who I believe is truly qualified to be president of the United
States, and that is our friend Hillary Clinton. She has trust in Clinton not only because of
working beside her, but due to a personal relationship with her. Michelle Obama using trust

repeatedly in her speech reassures the audience that they should have trust in Hillary too. Obama
is a trustworthy public figure which allows voters to support her purpose.
Obama gives voters reasons and evidence as to why Hillary Clinton is the best candidate
for president. Clinton is qualified to take on the job having worked in politics for a majority of
her life. Throughout her career, she has never lost sight of her focus which is the children. She
has advocated for kids with disabilities as a young lawyer, fighting for childrens health care as
First Lady and for quality child care in the Senate (Obama). Even as Secretary of State, she
continued her fight. Clinton believes the children are the future of this country. Parent or child,
her battle and message affects all of us. Clinton is also a role model. She is the definition of what
it means to preserve. Michelle Obama speaks about how even after losing the election in 2008,
Clinton did not give up. She saw it as an opportunity to become better so when the next fight
appeared she would be ready. Throughout her career in politics, she never quit. She kept going.
She is an example to the youth that with hard work and dedication anything is possible.
Michelle Obama uses an emotional appeal to persuade voters to vote for Clinton. She
begins her speech talking about her two daughters and her journey as a mother in the White
House. She becomes relatable in that moment because like other parents across the country she
too worries for her childs future. Obama states, In this election and every election is about who
will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives. This
statement is so powerful because this election can affect my opportunities depending on whos
elected. It makes me want to keep listening about what Hillary Clinton could do for me. Later in
the speech, her voice quivers and eyes water while stating, The story that has brought me to this
stage tonight, the story of generations of people who felt the lash of bondage, the shame of
servitude, the sting of segregation, but who kept on striving and hoping and doing what needed

to be done so that today I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves. Watching
her deliver those words, left me speechless. Eight years ago, we witnessed the inauguration of
the first black president; A historic moment that in the 1940s would never be believed. The idea
that we may have the first woman president is beyond inspiring. Society put up barriers for
people like Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton, but they broke through. They are examples of
why this country is so great. Breaking those barriers, only gives more opportunities for the future
children. Michelle Obama leaves me at the end of the speech feeling that Clinton will help each
and every one of us reach the impossible.
Obama achieved her purpose. She delivered an inspiring and moving speech in support of
Clinton. The sincerity in her voice and passion in her eyes captivated all of America. Obama is a
trustworthy public figure who we value. She spoke of Clintons qualifications, drive, and focus
for a better tomorrow for children. Obamas speech left voters including myself saying, Im
with her.
