STANDARD: PDE ELS: 1.4 Types of Writing
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATION: Student will engage in a slot writing activity by
using a shared reading book and tell me what the book was about.

PLANNING AND PREPARATION:

Briefly describe the students in your class, including those with special
needs, explain how you will meet the needs of all learners.
I am tutoring a student at Hobbit House my student is not identified with
an IEP. I have noticed that my particular student has a hard time focusing.
I notice she is more of a Visual and Kinesthetic learner. To meet the needs
of this student I will include activities that are directed towards her
learning style.

What are your expectations for this lesson? What do you want
students to learn and be able to do with the knowledge?
Student will engage in a slot writing activity by using a shared reading
book and tell me what the book was about.

The theory I will be using I will be using is Jean Piaget and Maria
Montessori. I will also take into consideration the childs learning styles
which includes, Visual and Kinesthetic learning.

Procedure:
Step 1: I will first greet my student and tell her about how
wonderful she did last time we meet and set up the motivation. If
we work really hard like I know you will you will stickers again.
Step 2: I will then ask my student if she knows what short stories
are. I will also have her look through the book to have her get
familiar with the book.
Step 3: I will then start with a shared reading activity by starting to
read and having the student practice.
Step 4: Then I will have my student think about the book and
process what we just read.
Step 5: I will then have the student tell me what she thought the
story was about.
Step 6: I will then pull out the slot writing activity sheet.
Step 8: I will then ask the student to fill in the blank space about
what we read.
Step 9: I will then read to the student what she wrote in the blank
space.
Step 10: I will then bring closure to the lesson by explaining what
we did today.
