Daily life in a foreign country can be tough at

first. Not knowing where the essential services
are can limit you in many ways. However, we
have listed some of the most essential services

Everyday
Living
Services

and places that will make you feel independent and help you adapt to life in Ulsan. In recent years, Ulsan and its expat community has
grown and thus many services have followed.
These services and shops provide things that
are useful in daily life as well as for special
occasions.
The best thing to help you get accustomed to
your life here in Ulsan is to get out and enjoy
the city and everything that it has to offer. Do
not worry so much about the language barrier and just focus on getting out and enjoying
your life! Many of the shops and services will
have a basic knowledge of English and that
should be enough to get you what you need.
Many of the cultural and sports facilities will
have top notch services but just be aware that
there might be some cultural differences. For
example, swimming pools may make you wear
a swim cap and goggles which may be different than your home country. It is important
to understand the rules before starting any
program or service. Comprehensive services
like these, make your everyday life in Ulsan
happy and hassle-free. Getting out and enjoying yourself will make you feel more relaxed
and at home here in Ulsan.

Everyday Living Services

Hospitals in Ulsan are modern and clean. With

a wide range of services you are guaranteed
to be looked after well. Once you have your
medical insurance card, you should have no
problems at the hospital and may find it more
affordable than other countries.
One of the best things about hospitals in Korea is that there are no visiting hours or limiabout a family member you can actually stay
many differences about the way Korean hospitals work and you should ask the staff any
questions that you might have.
One of the biggest things that you might notice is that you are allowed to bring food into
your room. In many hospitals they will
encourage family members to bring food in for
the recovering patients. This would of course
be at the doctors consents. Full service rooms
and single rooms can also be an option but
will cost extra.
Most hospitals in Ulsan will have some English speaking staff. They might not be 100
percent proficient but will be helpful at your
time of need. Also, try and check out the traditional clinics around the city. They offer an
affordable and albeit interesting alternative
to western medicine. Using traditional Korean
remedies, acupressure, and acupuncture these
treatments may work where other drugs or
treatment does not.

A Guide for Living in Ulsan 2016

Ulsan - Your Homea Away From Home

Shopping in Korea is second to none. If you are

looking for trendy fashion or name brand items,
Korea has it all. Ulsans appetite for shopping
continues to grow putting it on the map with
other major centers With its shopping malls and
department stores there is a shop here where
you can find just what you are looking for.
The biggest difference you will notice is that in
Korea there are a lot of streets or districts for
a particular item. Around Ulsan you will notice
that there is a furniture street and a wedding
street but not really a lot of strip malls or shopping centers However, there are areas for example like Samsan-dong which have numerous
shops and store packed into a single area. This
maybe different than what you are used to but
you will soon get used to it after a while.
One of the best things about shopping in Korea
is the addition of some service. This is where
you can find a few extra goodies to sweeten the
deal. You will see this in almost any shop or market in Korea. Supermarkets may tape on an extra
yogurt or the lady in the market may throw in a
few extra vegetables. All of this service is how
Koreans do business and it is great. Some of the
best places for service are the Korean cosmetics stores. They tend to throw in many samples
for you to try when you make a purchase. This is
certainly a great way to do business! Korea has
many shopping venues from department stores
to traditional markets.
Dont forget that Korea has one of the best
online shopping systems in the world. Sites like
Gmarket are offered in the English language and
have pretty much everything. Thanks to the delivery service known locally as taekbae your
purchase can be at your door in just a few days.

Ulsan - Your Homea Away From Home

There is a lot to see and do in this part of

the country. If you are looking for rich historical sites or beautiful landscapes, you are
in luck. There are enough places to keep
you occupied year round. There are places
for the whole family, the daring adventurer,
or the curious.
These days Korea is more accessible than
ever and you should take advantage of that!
Ulsan and Busan have some great urban attractions from amazing cityscapes to mountains right inside the city! Most of these locations are easily reached by Koreas amazing
public transportation system.
Both cities have tons of great festivals and
places to visit year round. Jagalchi market
in Busan is known world wide for its fresh
fish and friendly vendors. Its truly an experience just to walk through. Not to mention that it is a short distance from Nampodong, an area that is now a trendy hotspot
for young and old alike. With great shops
and delicious cafes, you could make a whole
day just in Nampo-dong alone!
While the modern attractions may entice
some, there is a treasure trove of history in
this area too! Gyeongju is known as a living museum because the town literally feels
like one large museum. Every where you go
there seems to be another interesting site
to check out. This certainly is a place that
you can visit time after time and see something new.

International Drivers License

You can get lots of information about restaurants, travel destinations and attractions in Korea.
It is especially helpful when planning domestic trips.

An international drivers license is as valid as a Korean drivers license during its term of validity
(one year from the date of issuance).

Conversion of Drivers License (International to Korean)

There are many magazines for foreigners living in Korea. You can check news, trends of Korea,
and get other fresh information.

Foreigners from countries that recognize the Korean drivers license are exempt from all tests
but must take a physical exam. Foreigners from countries that do not recognize the Korean
drivers license are required to take a driving aptitude test.
