SLO Translation

Rhetorical Knowledge:
Being able to apply strategies throughout various writing situations. Writers write
intentionally, while understanding how types of literature, audience, purpose, impact writing.
- Evaluate how genres shape readers and writers explain with rules; including
mechanics, structure and style.
- Be able to change tone, design, method, layout to fit a specific situation
Critical Reading:
Being able to analyze & dig through different ideas, info, texts. Thinking critically allows
you to separate claims from evidence, evaluate sources and evidence, read between the lines,
read across texts, think about connections between different texts.
- being able to give feedback to oneself; being able to notice the value of various writing
style choices of writers.

Composing Processes:
Writers use various writing methods to comprise a concept in a project. They are flexible.
- Demonstrate flexible methods of drafting, looking over writing, revising, and
rewriting.
- Being able to accept feedback and to give feedback
- Use writing to gain a deeper connection to material you have read over
Knowledge of Conventions:
Conventions are the rules and guidelines that shape reading and writing experience of
what is the correct way to display something in writing.
- Demonstrates how to reach a consensus of differences in rules
- Investigate why structure, design, format varies from writing
- Provide credit
Critical Reflection:
Ability for a writer to say what they are thinking. Explaining why something was said or
written a certain way
- Use writing as a way to express what the writer feels/thinks
- Knowledge of rules/guidelines for writing
