Dear Dr. Bruce,


Having entered this class you provided us with a set of student learning
outcomes (SLOs) which kept me on track for what to look for and expect throughout
the course. It made me aware on expectations that needed to be fulfilled
throughout the length of the course and above all made me a better critical thinker
and academic writer in my defense. Here is a letter I composed which demonstrates
my editorial review, Peer Review, Le Telliers and Kleins Editorial (Writers notebook)
and this cover letter which are presented within my portfolio that briefly explaining
why and how this has taught me to become the writer I am today.
The first assignment is my own editorial review satisfying the SLOs of Ethical
Citation and Language and Design. It Satisfies Ethical Citation due to the fact that
evaluating the Editorial was based on the rubric and many sources came into play
to support the Editorial claim. It also satisfies Language and Design because of the
strong meaning and depth it would bring to the Editorial.
The next assignment is the Peer Review satisfying the SLOs of Collaboration
and Organization. It satisfies Collaboration because it involves working/ interacting
with others on a work piece. It also satisfies Organization because it requires an
individual to put his or hers thoughts in affect to help better the Editorial. Critically
thinking on how to improve the Editorial while taking into consideration grammar,
syntax, new ideas to add, etc.
The third assignment is the Telliers and Kleins Editorial satisfying the SLOs of
Persuasion and Collaboration. It satisfies Persuasion because it involves comparing
and contrasting both editorials on the authors stand point toward soda. It also
satisfies Collaboration due to the fact that this assignment was done in groups
during class, it involved getting different type of feedback and compromising to an
agreement.
The last one is this cover letter that satisfies the SLOs of Organization and
Rhetorical Focus. It satisfies Organization because it requires connecting
assignments Ive done to the SLOs. It also satisfies Rhetorical Focus due to the fact
that it can be written informally or formal and is done outside of class.
Through completing these assignments and knowing that I was able to relate
to each SLO make me feel like a accomplished student in some way. At least toward
this assignment and has helped me become a more accomplish student. I hope you
enjoy this letter and my portfolio, thank you for the help you have given me. I know
and hope I will be able to use these skills Ive learned in other courses.
