Questions to Answer (10 points)
1. Discuss impact on parents.
Assuming the mother is employed with a job, she is impacted with having to bring
home enough money to support their family and giving the necessary time with
her two children and helping meet their individual needs. The father being
unemployed, may be struggling to find a job to help his wife and kids. Being a
stay at home dad for the time being, all the responsibility is on him to keep the
house going and also meeting the needs of his children when they are home and
getting them where they need to be with after school activities.
2. Discuss impact on 14 yr.-old girl.
Seeming to be very active in school, and with requiring a lot of out of school
projects, she may be affected with her parents not having the income to support
all of her extracurriculars and getting everywhere she needs to be because her
sister needs a lot of attention and needs extra time in her studies.
3. Discuss impact on 10 yr.-old girl.
She needs a lot of extra time on her studies and has an out of school tutor. She
has to different ways of learning due to her disability and needs the extra help,
leading to longer learning days that continue after school with the tutor and with

her family. The strain of her parents financial situation could really impact her
too.
4. Identify factors, which place this family at risk.
Being low income, not being able to find a steady job to support family, not
having the extra help and support from extended family members.
5. Identify supports, which might help this family survive and thrive.
Going to the Learning Disabilities of America will give a lot of information and
support throughout all the states and will help with whichever state they may be
located in. It gives contact information to people that may be able to help. Local
newspaper or a website can help find a job. And looking into the schools for help!
That is what they are there for, they would be able to point the family in a
direction to start to get help in their area.
