PROCEDURE
Introduction
Hook/Attention Grabber:
SAY: Today we are going to be learning a new fun Christmas song!
ASK: Has anyone heard of the song Up On The House Top?
Assessment of Prior Knowledge:
Ask if the students know the song.
Expectations for Learning and Behaviour:
If you pay attention and learn the words we will also add some actions to the words.
Advance Organizer/Agenda:
Today we are going to learn the song and if we have time I will also teach you guys the
actions.
Transition to Body:

Body
Learning Activity #1: Learn Song

DO: Echo the phrases of the song until the students have a grasp on the melody and lyrics.
DO: Extend the echoes to longer phrases so the students get a good grasp of the song.

Learning Activity #2: Learn Actions

DO: Have the students mirror the actions before doing them with a partner.
DO: Have the students try them with the partner.

Learning Activity #3: Putting it together


DO: Have students put the song and the actions together.

Closure
Consolidation/Assessment of Learning:
DO: Today we learned a new song and some hand actions to go along with it! The hand
actions we learned go with the beat of the music.
