As an ESPN anchor and national correspondent, Jeremy Schaap is the author of
Triumph: The Untold Story of Jesse Owens and Hitlers Olympics. Schaap
graduated from Cornell University. This book was used in the section of my
website titled Eleventh Olympiad.
Baker, William J. Jesse Owens: An American Life. New York: Free Press, 1986.
As a Professor of History at the University of Maine, Orono, William J. Baker is
the author of Jesse Owens: An American Life. In Jesse Owens: An American Life,
Baker gives us the true story of Jesse Owens from his birth in Jim Crow Alabama
to his encounters in Berlins Olympic Stadium. This book was used in the section
of my website titled 1930s America.

This journal of sports history, written by D.A. Kass, confronts the issue of racism
as it relates to the 1936 Olympic Games and Hitlers Nazi Regime. The
University of Illinois Press published this journal, and it provides terrific insight
over the controversial decision to not boycott the Games. This journal was used in

Goldsmith, Marlene. "Sporting Boycotts as a Political Tool." The Australian
Quarterly 67, no. 1, 11-20. doi:10.2307/20635801.
This journal, written by Marlene Goldsmith, describes the history of boycotts
being used as political tools. The Austrian Institute of Policy and Science
published this journal in 1995 as Volume 67 of The Austrian Quarterly. This
journal was used to contribute to my overall project, but most importantly, the
second sentence of my thesis.

Marvin, Carolyn. "Avery Brundage and American Participation in the 1936

This journal, written by Carolyn Marvin, emphasizes the decision of Avery
Brundage and the American Olympic Committee to participate in the 1936
Olympic Games. It portrays the arguments for and against a boycott as well. The
Cambridge University Press published this journal in 1982 as Volume 16 of the
Journal of American Studies. This journal was used in the section of my website
titled The Decision.
