EMERALD ASH BORER (EAB) INFORMATIONAL
MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Cornell University Cooperative Extension will host an
informational public meeting regarding the Emerald Ash Borer
(EAB) on Wednesday, June 30th, at 7pm at the Randolph Fire
Hall, located at 70 Main Street in Randolph. Please note that
the fire hall is located behind the Randolph Municipal
Building at 72 Main Street.
At the upcoming meeting, Cornell University, DEC and
NYS Ag & Markets experts will be present to share
information and answer questions on the EAB. The meeting
will offer area residents and public officials an opportunity to
learn more about the EAB, what actions individuals and
communities can take to help reduce the spread and minimize
economic impacts of the EAB, and the ongoing efforts in place
to address the current EAB infestation. Anyone interested is
welcome and encouraged to attend the meeting.
The EAB is a small but destructive beetle that infests and
kills North American ash tree species, including green, white,
black and blue ash. A multi-agency effort is underway to
address the EAB infestation and includes partners from the
state Department of Agriculture and Markets; U.S.
Department of Agriculture Animal Plant Health Inspection

BIRDS EYE FOODS BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
The 2010 Birds Eye Foods Section V has selected Kyle
Ingalls of Bolivar-Richburg and Greg Starks of Andover as the
Allegany County Baseball Players of the Year.
Kyle Ingalls, a senior pitcher, was 38 for 82 with 10
doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, 31 RBIs and 45 runs scored.
Kyle was 7-1 with 1 save, 74 strikeouts and 3.55 ERA. Ingalls
will be attending St. John Fisher in the fall.
Greg Starks, also a senior pitcher, was 26 for 49 with 5
doubles, 16 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. He went 8-2 with 87
strikeouts in 66 innings and had an ERA of 1.59. Starks will be
attending Keuka College in the fall.

HOW TO BUILD PARTNERSHIPS OF THE FUTURE
THROUGH TECHNOLOGY
In association with Tandberg, a world leader in the
development and manufacturing of televideo equipment, R-
AHEC hosted a Tandberg Technology Showcase on June 9,
2010 at the R-AHEC Learning Center in Warsaw, NY. Known
nationally as Tandbergs Tailgate Tour, this local showcase
included presentations by R-AHEC CEO, Dr. Kenneth Oakley,
who discussed The power of video communications,
Tandbergs Divisional Director Josh Levy discussing the
companys current role and position within the market place,
Dr. David Ellis from Erie County Medical Center (via televideo
conference from Buffalo) who discussed how important video

communication is in enabling telemedicine and Dr. Lance Ford
(via televideo conference from Oklahoma) who focused on 21st
Century Learning through Video Communications.
Approximately 35 R-AHEC partners attended this
showcase and were educated on the ways in which future
partnerships can be built or enhanced through televideo
conferencing and distance learning capabilities. A session was
also provided on how not-for-profits might search for grant
funding to purchase conferencing and televideo equipment. In
closing, participants also had the opportunity to use some of
the equipment offered by Tandberg that was brought to the
site via their mobile tractor trailer unit. All those in
attendance truly got to see first hand what Tandberg means
