Teleworking

Re:

Why it works

Intro

We are tackling weather or not teleworking is productive for the employer and beneficial. With
all the articles pointing towards the fact that is much more beneficial for both rather then
working from the office that is the side we chose to stand on and bring to light. This is vary
important to talk about because once people thing about working from home they think its
impossible or just a lazy work ethic or maybe its for idealist trying to live in a work free would,
however in reality we believe this is the wave of the feature that will bring working a full time
job much more flexible with day to day life for the employees and bigger employer's lest of a
cost expenses if not needed.

Fact/Finding

People worldwide are living the telecommuting dream: spending less on gas,
swearing off stuffy office attire, and working in a comfortable and quiet
workplace. Employees wake up for work and commute just steps away to their
home offices. In a struggling economy, telecommuting offers a beneficial
alternative to traditional work, for both employers and employees.
Experienced teleworkers manage their time efficiently and work in a
comfortable, distraction-free environment.
In a never-ending race where traffic jams burn over 3 billion gallons of gas and
release toxic fumes, every car counts. Whether you are heavily invested in
protecting the climate or not, the numbers are real: 24% of employees state

they would take a pay cut to work from home and help the environment

(Johnson,J.(n.d.).,November09,2016)

This demographic picture differs in striking ways, however, with those of several other
large aca- demic studies. In a State of California pilot project with 163 teleworking
participants, 65 per cent were male and most were mid-level professionals (Olszewski
& Mokhtarian, 1994). Demographic data from this U.S. study concur with a large
phone survey of Finnish workers, which finds telecommuters to be primarily high
income, highly educated, male, independent professionals (Luukinen, 1996).

In the Cyber Dialogue survey, full-time employees who teleworked were more likely to
be male (57 per cent), slightly younger, and earn more ($49 500), while part-time
employees who teleworked informally were more likely to be female (almost 75 per
cent), somewhat older, and earn less ($34 500). Given the difficulties in surveying
teleworkers, obtaining a definitive answer to the question of who teleworks may prove
impossible.

Moreover, consideration of such factors as job suitability often masks issues of status
and power that are densely intertwined with occupation. These issues appear, for
example, in the comparison of pro- fessional and clerical positions.

Stuck at the office late again, only to get in a fight with your spouse because you missed
dinner? A recent study, published in the Journal of Applied Psychology (JAP) (Vol. 92, No.
6), shows that workers who have more control over their hours are less likely to
experience such frustrations

Talks about how allowing workers to decide whether or not they can work from home is very
helpful to the workers, allowed them to have more flexible timelines for submitting work
talks about how telecommuting appears to work the best when it is practice to a moderate
degree, some face to face meetings may be especially important.
She also speaks about how working from home is most effective if implemented in a way that
meets the needs of both the individual and the organization
This article had some great insight on how giving the workers opportunity to work at home is
very essential but it is also important that some face to face meetings happen for they are
especially important too.

Fewer distractions for disciplined workers can lead to higher efficiency this can result into more
work being done in less time.
Lowers stress for most workers while also boosting the morale of them as well
Reduces company turnover which is great for the company.
