Course Description:

An introductory course in working 3 dimensionally with metals and other
materials. course covers design concepts and basic techniques of forming and
connecting materials.
Course Outline

I. Subject Areas
1. Materials and Tools:

Students will be able to understand the use of art metals and the tools that

manipulate those materials
2. Wire design 2-D or 3-D facial portrait:
!
Students will be able to use different art metals to create a facial design of their
!
self
3. Ancient Jewelry:
!
Students will be able to understand Egyptian style all wire design and how it is
!
produced.
4. Wire Rings:
!
students will be able to gauge the size of ring to custom fit fingers and apply
!
balance and form into their design.
!
5. Welding & Soldering:
!
Students will learn how to solder & weld various metals together to form art
6. Flat Plate Art Metal:
!
Students will learn art metal safety rules for working with plate medal to make a
!
personal logo
7. Steel Sculptures:
!
Students will be able to demonstrate skills of sculpture design & gas
!
welding techniques for final project
