INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND

Harmony School of Innovation was established in 2005.


It is located on 9421 W. Sam Houston Pkwy in Houston, TX 77096
Its website is http://www.hsihouston.org/
It serves 6-8 grade level students.
Total enrollment is 587 students.
74% of the students are economically disadvantageous.
Technology plan is between 7/1/17 and 6/30/20 dates.

Campus Technology Advisors


HSI has 53 staff which makes contribution to campus technology plan by
embedding technological tools to the content area.
District Technology Committee
District`s curriculum instructional coaches from each subject department
collaborate with campus teachers to plan how beneficial technological tools
will be implemented in the campus.
Central Office Technology Plan Development Group
Department chairs and finance department managers in central office. They
contribute to planning process of the school about what kind of technological
tools will be ordered in terms of academic and financial.
Harmony School of Innovations mission is to prepare for higher learning in a
safe, caring, and collaborative atmosphere through a quality learner-centered
educational program with a strong emphasis on Math, Science, Engineering, and
Technology. That`s why HSI-Houston has a goal to expand technology use in the

campus to increase instructional quality in effective. Moreover, it assists to reach


many students with helping hands of teachers in a short time and has students
earned new skills being useful. As Ronnie Custer says Indeed, educational
technological inputs have changed the face and contours of modern 21 st Century
teaching and learning and improved and modernized it from dreary, monologue
lecture sessions to exciting, interactive and compelling education enhanced by
the use of modern learning aids. Indeed modern day state-of-the-science and art
of education does help students learn faster, better and more effectively though
learning aids.
Technology switches monologue classes to more engaged classes and helps
students learn better as a learning aid.
CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.

1-HSI-Houston uses Eduphoria software being available to entire teachers in the


school. Every week teachers upload lesson plans to the software .Formative and
summative assessments are created and results uploaded to the system as well.
2-HSI-Houston provides that 4-8 grade students utilizes iPad, desktop computers
for Mathematics and ELA Labs everyday one period. Students also utilize
chrome books for Math Lab and ELA Lab classes. ALEKS is run for 6-8 students
during Math Lab and Accelerated Reader is run for 6-8students during ELA Lab
everyday one period.
1-HSI-Houston makes technology available to whole students at least one period
in a day.
1-HSA-Houston policy enables that entire student groups have different level
access to the technology. In accordance with their curriculum their technology
access changes. It is up to class and what grades are they.

1-HSI-Houston `s curriculum goals and plans are to purchase and to provide


software which helps to meet state standards and to prepare students to
colleges.
2-HSI-Houston`s targets are being met to improve student success by following
their improvement track via help of software(s).

1-HSI-Houston plans to arrange trainings and to schedule computer classes in


order to meet the students` technology literacy needs and information literacy
skills in the computer classes.
2-HSI-Houston schedules that students take Lab classes related to core courses
which contain the literacy skills.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT

1-HSI-Houston assesses teachers` and administrators` technology skills by


checking their work submitted as online and observes whether they use
technology in the school work or not.
2-HSI-Houston considers workshops, webinar meetings are the professional
development opportunities in order to improve detected needs.
1-HSI-Houston uses data-driven instructions are available for teachers and
administrators to fill out students` educational background gaps.
2-HSI-Houston provides instructional videos that explain details and steps in
regards to use technology which will be implemented in the campus.
INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND
ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA

1-HSI-Houston counts that student school emails will be set up to notify students
and parents regarding school events, incidents and school websites will be used
for general announcements about school. Voice mail will be established to
inform parents about upcoming events.

2-HSI-Houston considers that home phone, cell phone , internet might be had
by parents , so they would rather having email, voice mail options for
school/home communication.
1-HSI-Houston regards that computer and internet are the core components for
staff and students in order to implement the Professional Development and
Curriculum items.
2-HSI-Houston takes into consideration that curriculum improvement software
helps students fill out their own gaps and question bank software
to assist benchmark needs to do kill-drill practices.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION COMPONENT

1-HSI-Houston uses assessment results as significant indicators to make a

decision whether plan effects to students affirmatively or not.


2-HSI-Houston will check the assessment results and compare the scores
of the previous test and current one to know whether implementation is
successful or not.
1-HSI-Houston plans to collect six weeks data. Department chairs and teachers
are in charge of doing that for collaboration.
2-HSI-Houston plans to schedule benchmark test dates to collect and aggregate
data in order for teachers to analyze results to take an action.
