Colorado University Boulder How to Apply

Step One: Review all university graduate admission


requirements.

Fee - online at the time you submit your application

If youre an international student, there are specific guidelines. Review


international student guidelines. (TOELF)
Contact the department youre interested in for specific guidelines.

Step Two: Submit your University of Colorado Boulder


application through you MyCUBoulder account. You will
be required to submit four letters of recommendation online
as well.
Masters must submit at least one letter of recommendation from an
academic (e.g. music theory, music history, music education) faculty
member.

DMA/PhD applicants must submit at least one letter of


recommendation from an academic (e.g. music theory, music history, music
education) faculty member; one letter of recommendation in reference to
your teaching and no more than two letters of recommendation from
applied/performance faculty members.
Note: See below for information on how to submit materials.

Step Three: Submit supplemental admission information

Some degrees require writing samples, which must be mailed directly


to the Graduate Studies Office (address below).

Some degrees require a pre-screening recorded audition. All prescreening material must be submitted via Acceptd.

Step Four: Take the GRE

Deadline to report GRE scores directly to the Office of


Admissions is December 1
GRE is required for PhD and MM Theory applicants.

MME applicants are strongly advised to submit GRE scores, particularly


if they desire to be considered for graduate assistantships. MME applicants
with an undergraduate GPA below 3.0 must sbumit GRE scores to be
considered for admission.

The University of Colorado Boulder GRE code is 4841 and the


College of Music GRE code is 2404

Step Five: Schedule your audition and interview

Once youve submitted all the above materials, you must request an
audition. Send an email to gradmusc@colorado.edu including your full name,
degree and program applying for, mailing address and phone number. You
will be contacted once it has been verified that your application has been
received.
Review the audition requirements for your specific area of study.
Note: International students have further requirements for admission.

For review and decision purposes you are required to upload
an unofficial copy of your transcript(s) in the online application. We require
one copy of the scanned transcript from each undergraduate and graduate
institution that you attended. This includes community colleges, summer
o

sessions and extension programs. While credits from one institution may
appear on the transcript of a second institution, unofficial transcripts must be
submitted from each institution, regardless of the length of attendance, and
whether or not courses were completed. Failure to list and submit transcripts
from all institutions previously attended is considered to be a violation of
academic ethics and may result in the cancellation of your admission or
dismissal from the university. Follow the instructions for submitting an
unofficial transcript here. ONLY after you are recommended for admission
will you need to provide official transcripts.
