Event Overview
Group Name: Earth Group
Location: Meet at class
Description of Theme/Event: Amazing Race
Skills/concepts that will be taught: Teamwork
Introduction: This is where you will use appropriate leadership style and energy to set the tone for the activity.
In this section you should consider: Intro yourself and other leaders; Intro the activity; Get participants engaged
and motivated for the event.
Activity
Leaders will explain that we will be doing an Amazing
Race type of event. Each group will have to complete a
task that will require teamwork and then will be given a
clue that will lead them to the next location when they
finish the task. The first group to make it to the final
location will win a prize. The purpose of this activity is
to able to work together with your team members.

Equipment Needed
Middle: This is the main content of the event. Here you will want to provide: Detailed instructions for the
event; Your expectations for the participants (outcomes, ground rules, etc).
Activity
There will be three puzzles mixed together in the middle
of the class room. Each group will have to find their
pieces. Each member has to pick up one puzzle piece,
and can only get one at a time. When they finish their
puzzle they will get a clue to the next location. Due to
the fact the Amazing Race usually throws an advantage
or a disadvantage at the groups, two groups will get a 48
piece puzzle and the other group will receive two 24
piece puzzles. (Classroom)
When they get to the next location, the group will be

The final clue will say that the group has to go to the
school store and take a picture as a group holding Penn
State gear. For this picture, every member of the group
has to be holding something Penn State related.

Wrap-up: This is the phase where you bring the event to an end, facilitate any discussion or debrief if
necessary, allow time for clean-up, etc.

The group that makes it to the end location with a picture Kelsey and Ryan

of what was in the final clue, they will be declared the
winners and given their prize. (HUB lawn Bottom floor
of the HUB if weather does not permit)
Considerations for risk management, behavior management and motivation strategies
The motivation will be the prize at the end. None of our activities are particularly dangerous so there is not a lot
of risk. Team members will have to be respectful of other students on campus that may be in class or on their
way to class, but our locations will be in common areas (outdoors if possible) so there should not be any
interruptions.
