This article gives the reader some background on GMOS. In the 1970s
is when it all began, they gained the ability to modify and create genes.
Natural selection is no longer necessary because scientists can introduce
genetic traits from any specie. They use techniques like cell fusion, tissue
culture, and vitro fertilization. This article concentrates on the good use of
GMOS rather than the bad. GMOS are used to convert hazardous waste into
a harmless substance. Pharmaceutical industry has made great use of GMO
for drugs, vaccines, and diagnostic tests. The question is are GMOs really
safe, and this article seems to agree that they are.
Robert Kenner (Director) Film, Food Inc. (April 21 2010). `
This is a movie that explores all the aspects of agriculture and the role
that GMOs play in it. In the film GMOs are not looked at in a good light, it
focuses on the bad effects of GMOs. They enlighten the reader on how many
other countries are jealous of us because we are able to make so much for
very cheap, but they shouldnt be. The movie claims that the use of GMOs
have led to many health problems like obesity and diabetes. They interview
many people and companies to get their perspective and feedback on the
issue. Most feedback was of a negative perspective of GMOs. In 2003 it was
reported that a child died a few days after eating a burger. It was a result of
the indigestion of e coli. This raised a lot of eyes and questions to how are
foods, especially meat, are being produced. This article shows all the negative
relations of GMOs.

This journal concentrate on many of the fears that Europeans have
about GMOs, as the title implies. The journal starts off with the question of
Should GMOs be used or not?. They recognize that it has many benefits, but
many fear safety and health hazards. Many Europeans do not think GMOs are
good for you based on a survey. The survey consisted of 16,000 people with
56% of them agreeing that GMOs are bad for you. Each country seems to
have a different view on the topic. While China prospers from the usage of
GMOs, Brazil avoids them.Specific issues discussed were some biohazards
that may occur such as the creation of virulent micro-organisms, or the
creation and escape of new life forms that may endanger man and the
environment. They also comprise other potential dangers and risks for farmers
and biodiversity.

Many fear GMOs, but dont really even know what they truly are and
how they work. This website goes into detail of their functions. There different
way of genetically modifying and in the article they use seeds as an example.
The DNA of the seeds is altered with the use of radiation, and then they
choose the one with the best qualities to breed. Or you can extract desired
genes from one organism and put it into another. This website focuses on the
benefits of GMOs; theyve helped our plants evolve tremendously. We now
have corn that survive droughts, potatoes that do not bruise, and just crops
that produce more and cost less. We even have scientists working on our
meat product, to make or fill them with more nutrients. The public believes that
GMOs are such a horrible thing, but many scientists they are the solution to
many problems. Overall GMOs have been scientifically proven safe, but many
just fear we still dont enough about them and their long term effects.

This court hearing took place in France and involved a man by the
name of Professor Gilles-Eric Seralini. He has been conducting research for
years on the effect of gm feed on rats. It has been found that the feed has
been causing tumors in the rat. From there he was able to conclude that
GMOS are actually not safe for human consumption. They believe that
endocrine disruptions and over expression of EPSPS transgene or other
mutational effects in the GM maize are responsible for causing these
issues(Goodrich Nature news). This article is obviously against GMOS and
has scientific data and the courts to back them up.
