This article discusses the link between body image and the media in the U. S. It is noted
that the media plays a powerful roll toward the outlook of young adults and adolescents
appearances. The media is also blamed for the prevalences and negligence of body image
pathologies among girls and women in the U.S. This article also explores and explains the
history of body image and how it affected people in the past, how the body image issue got
started, and how it spreaded throughout the U.S. Many teenage girls looks at models and the
fashion that has came about today, and wishes to exceed the body that they have as themselves.
This article is relevant to my research topic because it explains and defines why body image is an
issue and how society is affected and plays an important role.

This article argues that genetic, physiological and socialized complications can be
attributed to dysfunctional childhood outcomes and memories. Although the mass media plays a
large key role in the body image perception of the society, genetic factors have been linked to
body image issues. The article explains the associations between nature, genetics, and selfesteem. It also claims that the media can influence the society's standards for beauty, but genetics
can also be blamed for body image problems. This article is relevant to my research topic
because it not also explains the influences of the media and public but gives the physiological
and social outlook of how people experience and look at things.
