Dear Dr. Bruce,

For my portfolio, I included my work to showcase my efforts and to demonstrate that I have
adequately grasped the student learning objectives (SLOs) this semester. To provide proof of my
competency of these SLOs, I have gathered some of my best writing pieces and compiled into a
presentable portfolio. I decided to enclose my iFixit Group Charter because this assignment
meets merely all of the SLOs we have covered in class this semester, as well as my peer revised
charter and writers notebook to complete the remaining SLOs not included in my charter. I will
thoroughly elaborate on how the assignments I selected satisfy all six of the student learning
objectives.
Beginning with rhetorical focus (SLO1), as you will see my iFixit Group Charter will convey
this objective, as it indicates whether this assignment was written formally or informally, the
intended audience as well as stating the purpose. As you will see, the charter was very well
displayed and formally written, clearly communicates who the intended audience is, in this case
Dr. Bruce. The purpose for providing you with a Charter was to show you that my peers and I
have the ability to deliver the assignment efficiently. As stated in the Group Charters mission
statement, our purpose is a follows Fullerton Fixit will collaborate to create this guide by
researching, documenting, and reporting on the repair of the deviceproject website that is open
to the online community. As you will see we worked towards creating commendable
replacement guides that our community will have access to. Also, enclosed is a selected writers
notebook, this covers the informal aspect of this objective.
Secondly, focusing on Citation (SLO2), I was able to bring about this objective by referencing
back to Markels conflict resolutions, memo formatting, which I state in the revised group
charter. Another method used to conquer ethical citation was, the used use of in-text citation
obtained from an online source, reflecting on expectations and how to collaborating was crucial
for this project. As you scroll through my revised group charter, you will notice how I cited the
University of Strathclyde Glasgow.
Then following is persuasion (SLO3), which is also met by the charter, here we communicate
carefully, objectively and persuasively by stating our merits or the opposing argument. The iFixit
Charter does just that, it is written very strategically, it lays out a plan for you, our reader, giving
you a sense of where it is that we are going with this project and how my group is planning to

achieve it. Fullerton Fixit collaborated to create a repair guide for the IBMX41 Laptop. In order
to construct the replacement guides, we first designed the charter, which included a mission
statement, stating what it is that we intend to do, followed by the team members expectations,
roles, a timeline and a timesheet. The timeline, is our way of assuring you that we will be
punctual with all assignments.
Objective number four, organization. Both the charter and revised peer review satisfy this
objective, as youll see not only were these assignments well written out, they were also
organized so that it was easy for the reader to read; there are heading before each section. Both
assignments were easy to understand and coherently addressed a rhetorical situation.
Language and design (SLO5) was seen throughout the charter. You will see that we avoided the
use of bigoted language that would make the reader feel bad. I must note that because there was
a lack on formal design I chose to include one of writers notebook where the tone is informal, I
reflect on what I have gained this semester.
Last but not least, collaboration (SLO6). I was able to work collaboratively and effectively with
my group, we designed a well thought out charter. As listed in the charter we all has
responsibilities and tasks that needed to be met. However, we were also entitled to help each
other if need be. It is expected that all team members collaborate equally
throughout the project. Each team member will carry on their assigned
responsibilities, but will not hesitate to help others if needed, expressed on
the group charter.
After completing this letter, I realize that I grew within my writing, I feel like I
became a better technical writer. I still have a long way to go and hope
flourish throughout my years to come. I can apply this learning experience in
my field of work when I become a social worker. Thank you for your
