SLIT has been offering master’s degree programs in Computing, Business and Engineering since 2004. Currently it has graduated over 500 degree holders, Currently SLIT is offering four master’s degree programs approved by UGC and another three master’s degrees programs in collaboration with the Sheffield Hallarn University in UK. By encouraging students to be innovative and ‘committed towards excellence, SLIIT has been successful in, producing graduates with strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills | @ SLIT Presently, SLIT operates two Campuses - the Colombo Metropolitan Campus at Kollupitiya, the Malabe Campus, and few centres in Matara, Kandy, Jaffna and Kurunegala, The total enrolment of students at SLIT for Bachelor's Degree Programmes is about 8,000. A further 1,000 students follow Master's Degree Programmes, Postgraduate Diploma and other Professional Development Programmes. SUIT provides modern facilities for students to pursue their studies. These include fully air-conditioned lecture theatres, laboratories, auditoria, ibraries and reading rooms, rest areas and canteens. SLIIT also provides facilites for indoor and ‘outdoor sports and a variety of other activities. SLIT has over 30 fully equipped laboratories in Computing, Business and Engineering, These include multimedia laboratory, data communication laboratory, embedded and digital design laboratories, electronic design laboratory, telecommunication laboratory to name a few. The SLIIT also has subscriptions to research databases such as the IEEE Xplorer, Emerald, and science direct to support postgraduate students research requirements. SLIT offers Master's degrees in the fields of information Technology, Information Systems and information Management from the year 2004 as approved by the Ministry of Higher Education. In 2007, Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) started offering its MSc in Enterprise Applications Development Degree Jointly with SLIT. This program was jointly designed by SLIIT, SHU and the Sri Lankan Software Industry. In 2012, Sheffield Hallam University started the MSc Degree in Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering jointly with SLIT. In 2014 SLIT started to offer MSc Logistics & Supply Chain Management jointly with Sheffield Hallam University - UK, SLIT has created a learning and research environment with best possible resources for students, The SLIT Research Centre is established to foster and promote research among the academic staff and students, SLIIT Research Center organizes National Conference on Technology & Management annually to disseminate latest research results of Sri Lankan universities. ‘The SLIIT has also expanded its research boundaries by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Center for Wireless ‘Communications located at University of Oulu in Finland to carry ‘out collaborative research. This will enhance the opportunities available to students registered for MSc programs to carry out international research locally, All course conducted at SLIT are supported by an advanced Learning Management Systems (LM) that provides electronic ‘access to all course resources from anywhere in the world, facilitating anywhere anytime learning to SLIT students. We strive fora vibrant research culture and numerous initiatives are in place to promote research among the academic and student communities. Integrating research methodology to undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, establishing a research center to carry ut research work, SLIT Research Grant Scheme, National Conference on Technology and Management are all meant to promote research, Research methodology is a compulsory module forall postgraduate programs at SLIT. This aims to inculcate skills to acquire new knowledge which is of paramount importance in the fields of information Technology, Engineering and Business ‘Management where the body of knowledge grows exponentially ll students complete a comprehensive research project under the guidance of SLIT staff members ‘The SLIT Research Centre, overseen by a committee of senior academics/researchers, provides facilities to carry out staff and student research. SLIT Research Centre organizes the National Conference on Technology and Management (NCTM), a forum to discuss contemporary issues in the fields of Technology and Management. In 2014, SLIT organized this forum for the 10th consecutive year. During these first 6 years it was confined to research in the field of Information Technology and participants were mainly from SLIIT. During the last four years NCTM has been improved by the quality of the research work and by wider participation of both academia and industry. Research programmes at SLIIT have gained popularity with the Introduction of the research grant scheme. All academics are clustered into research teams and each team is headed by a senior academic. The senior academics as the principal investigators are eligible for the SLITT annual research grants. These grants can be freely utilized for research related purposes such as accessing useful research resources (e.g. on-line journals) and participation in conferences. SLIIT research seminar sessions provide all academics a platform to present their research work. The seminar is organized by a SLIT research seminar committee which is spearheaded by Head/SLIIT Research Center. This committee organizes workshops to guide SLIT post graduate students to improve their skill in research. SLIIT Research center at Malabe Campus provides a good study environment, computer facilities to browse online research articles and is freely available for research discussions. At this location, facilities are available to conduct Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree programmes and Professional Development programmes. The CISCO Regional Networking Academy, the Microsoft IT ‘Academy and the Pearson VUE Authroised Testing centre for International Certification are also located at the Metropolitan campus, SLIT facilities are located on the 4th, 9th, 12th, 13th 15th and {th Levels of the BoC Merchant Tower. A restaurant is provided at the 10th level and banking facilities are available at the 1st and 2nd levels. The refund, if effected, will be subject to a deduction of ten percent. if a request for a refund is received after one week but before the end of one month, the deduction willbe fifty percent.
