ES.5 The student will investigate and understand the rock cycle as it relates
to the origin and transformation of rock types and how to identify common
rock types based on mineral composition and textures. a) Igneous rocks; b)
sedimentary rocks; and c) metamorphic rocks.
Example Assignment- The students will break up in to groups of 6 to 8.
When the students get in the groups they will have to make a wikiproject.
On the wikiproject they will have to create a page that will cover the rock
type that they were assigned. They must cover at least the rock cycle, the
transformation of their rock type and how they can identify the rock that
they were assigned. After they have done that they will add pictures of their
rock on the page so that other students can see what the rock looks like and
the information they found on the rock.

2. Student will click the link, which will lead them to the login page
3. The student will hit Register to create an account
4. The student will create an account with a username and password
5. They will then be directed to the dashboard page to start their assignment

ES.6 The student will investigate and understand the differences between
renewable and nonrenewable resources.
Example Assignment- The students will get into groups of 2 to 3, when they
get in their groups they will they start discussing the difference of renewable
and nonrenewable resources. Once they are done discussing them they will
start to make table. On one side of the table they will put renewable and on
the other side they will put nonrenewable, once they have done that they
will list characteristics of each. After they have completed that, then the
students will log into Haiku and submit the assignment into drop box.
ES.9 The student will investigate and understand that many aspects of the
history and evolution of Earth and life can be inferred by studying rocks and
fossils. b) superposition, cross-cutting relationships, index fossils, and
radioactive decay are methods of dating bodies of rock;
Example Assignment- Each students will pick 2 of the 4 methods of dating
rocks and will create a discussion board post on them. In the discussion

board the students will describe each of the 2 methods they chose. For each
method the students will have to show how the earth has evolved by
research they have done for the methods they have chosen. Once the
students have completed this then they will post it to the discussion board
and then will reply to 2 other students.
Pros:
1. There are more tools than other learning sites. (Polls, pages, and
discussion boards.)
2. The drop box allows for a submission process.
3. You can comment on teachers announcements as a student.
4. It has wikiprojects, where students can create their own page with
information that they gather on the subject they are learning, then
they can post for the whole class to see.
Cons:
1. Each teacher has to have a different page.
2. Each student has to have access to a computer and/or internet.
3. Haiku does not have a mobile app, unlike other learning sites.

1.11th grade English 11.6 is the first sol that Bailee chose for her example
assignment. The student will be able to use a computer to draft, publish
writing that they have written for the class.
Students will be in groups of 4 to 5. They will collaborate on 1 type of
research paper they want to do, once they have decided what are researching
each will have to come up with a sub topic to the main topic. So the students
will start to write their subtopics and then share it on google docs, and revise
each others work.
2. 6.2 which is 6th grade English. The students will make and oral
presentation.
The students will get in groups of 2-3. Once they are in the groups they will
talk about pros and cons of working with others in groups. The kicker is that
in the groups it is only English class, which is a great idea. Once they have
collaborated the different groups will present what they have came up with
to the class.
3.12th grade government. They will look at the permeable and find out the
purpose of the government.
The students will be in groups of 4-5 students. The students will have to
recite the preamble from memory. They will not be able to have notes. Once

they do this they will have a word document with information on why this
group thought the purpose of the permeable in the government. The
presentation has to be at least 2-5 minutes.
Pros
1. Group work is key to this tool
2. Group doesnt have to meet in person can pass work between this.
3. Students can revise, edit other students work without meeting
4. Simple to use

1. Group member can edit but the work might not need to be edited
2. Gmail account is required
3. Have to teach students how to use it.

1. Will use web address to make an account with google slides.
2. Once that is done there will be a cube in the right corner, when you
click that it will take you to google slides.
3. Once you get on google slides there are many different slide that you
can chose from.
History WHI.3
Students can use it in a history class. Each group will take a major group
like Egypt, Indus River Valley, and China and descried there customs,
religions, traditions, beliefs. They will only chose one to make a
presentation on.
English 4.5
The students will read a fictional story in groups, once they have read the
story they will make a presentation that will describe each character, the
main idea of the fictional story, the authors purpose and where the story
takes place. Also in the presentation the students will have to list
characteristics of a good fictional story.
5.7 Science
The students will talk about rock types. Then they will have to make a
presentation on the rock type that they chose. In the presentation the
students will need to have pictures of the rock, they will also need to tell
how and where the rock is formed. They will also have to have major details
of the rocks.
Pros
1. Can assess google pictures without having to save them to your computer
or flash drive
2. multiple students can access the same project
3. its free
4. Auto save without the person clicking save
