Students will complete research project to learn about famous Tennesseeans and
their importance in Tennessee History.
LESSON OBJECTIVE:

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:
The students will demonstrate understanding of the Great Tennesseeans,by
identifying
their accomplishments and impact.
The students will be able to define accomplishments and impact BB King, Aretha
Franklin, Isaac Hayes, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton,Wilma Rudolph, Morgan
Freeman, Hattie Caraway, James Agee, Chet Atkins.
In previous lessons, students learned about Great Americans such as Rosa Parks
and Abe Lincoln.
In subsequent lessons, students will learn about events impacted by the Great
Tennesseans.
The lesson or technology used will be modified to meet the needs of diverse
learners.
PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:
Introduction:
Today we will be learning about Famous Tennesseeans.
Instead of me teaching, you will reach your peers.
Show students list of names.
Explain the assignment.

MODIFICATIONS:
For students who are not able to master objectives, I will provide more scaffolds. I will
provide a website to create a simple Prezi. So if the student is struggling, I will provide
an example of a Prezi Presentation for them to visual explore for completion. For students
who are ready for more advanced activities, I will have them to write a short essay on the
Famous American that he/she found interesting.
