INTRODUCTION

CUTTING

PSP GLAZING SYSTEM

TWINWALL is a high quality, multiwall polycarbonate glazing

sheet extruded from polycarbonate resin. This product has a
thin wall tunnel rectangular structure, which may be an excellent
candidate for vertical and curved applications. Also, it offers
high impact strength, excellent light transmission, light weight,
easy installation, long-term weather resistance and outstanding
thermal insulation properties.

Sheets can be cut with a stanley knife, a fine tooth saw or

a circular saw. Alternatively, a hand saw held at a shallow
angle may be used. When cutting a polycarbonate sheet it
is important to hold the sheet firmly to prevent stress and
vibration.

Aluminium Glazing System with EPDM Rubber Glazing

Gaskets, to greatly simplify the attachment of Twinwall
sheets. System includes Glazing Bar, Gaskets and
Glazing Cover.

It is important to allow
for thermal expansion, so holes for fixing should be drilled 2mm
larger than the screw shaft. Any dust or chippings must be
removed from the inside of the sheet using compressed air.
PSP TWINWALL fixings should be used to secure the sheets.

TAPING & CAPPING ENDS

The open cells at the top and bottom of the Twinwall sheets
should always be sealed with PSP Anti Dust Tape.

Excellent Energy Efficiency - The multiwall construction traps

air between the layers, which ensures outstanding thermal
insulation performance.

Note: use the solid silver tape along the full sheet width at the
top end of the sheet, then repeat using the breathable tape
at the bottom (lower end) of the sheet. The tape should then
be protected by using PSPs Aluminium breathable end cap.
This procedure prevents dust and insects penetrating the cells
of the sheet also allowing airflow and drainage from the cells,
ultimately reducing and dispersing any condensation that may
occur.

Environment Standards - In many cases these high

performance polycarbonate sheet products may be recycled.

EASY INSTALLATION

FEATURES
Lightweight - An outstanding balance of low weight and high
stiffness enables lightweight structures with greater spans to be
designed and easily installed.

Exceptional Fire Performance - PSP TWINWALL polycarbonate

sheets are classed as self-extinguishing. PSP TWINWALL sheets
have an exceptional fire performance and importantly do not
give off toxic gases. PSP TWINWALL has been tested in many
countries. In the UK it obtained the requirements of BS476
Part 7 and Part 6, Class 1 surface spread of flame.
Flexibility of Design - PSP TWINWALL sheets can be cold bent
and used in many curved applications e.g. arched walkways.
PSP TWINWALL must always be bent longitudinally, never
across the width of the sheet.
In applications of this nature it is important not to place
excessive tension on the sheet. Therefore when PSP TWINWALL
is cold curved the maximum radius should not be more than
150 times the thickness of the sheet i.e. 1200mm.
Two Sided UV Protection - PSP TWINWALL is supplied with a
protective film on both sides of the sheet.
The protective films must be kept on whilst installing and
working with the sheets. They can be removed when the work is
complete. This will help avoid any damage or scratches.

When installing PSP TWINWALL sheets there are a number of

things to consider:
All sheets must be installed with the flutes running vertically
Roofs should always have a minimum slope of 10 to allow
water to run off
All glazing systems, sealants, gaskets and other materials
must be fully compatible with polycarbonate
It is imperative that at least one rib of the sheet is engaged
and clamped in the glazing system
A frame of approximately 15mm is normally required when
glazing. It is also important to add extra space for thermal
expansion
When drilling holes, thermal expansion must be taken into
account (ensure holes are 2mm larger than shaft of screws)
Sheets must not be fixed or clamped too tightly as this will
prevent thermal expansion and contraction and will
adversely affect the installation
PSP TWINWALL sheets should normally be fixed to
purlins or studs erected at a maximum of 600mm centres.
In areas exposed to high wind, spacings should be
reduced to 400mm centres.

Fixing Instructions - Purlin

1. Determine how many panels
will be required for the job.
This is based on 635mm
cover from aluminum profile
centre to profile centre.

6. Fix top profile down with a

ClearVue 5g x 50mm #2 Stainless
Steel Pan Head Self Tapping
Screw. Complete this for all
purlins.

2. Find the centre of the roof and

string a line from top to bottom.
For an even number of sheets
place your first profile on the
line. For an odd number measure
317.5mm from the centre line
and string another line. This is
your start position.

7. Between each purlin drill a 5mm

hole at 150mm increments
through the top profile channel,
being careful not to drill into
the bottom bracket V channel.
Fix with ClearVue 5g x 20mm
Stainless Steel Cap Screws
(diagram 2) repeat for entire
length of profile.

3. Measure 635mm either side of

the first profile and place the next
2 bottom profiles with glazing
rubbers inserted.
4. Place a panel on each profile.
5. Place a top profile on the centre
profile and drill a 5mm hole
through both profiles where it
intersects with a purlin.
(diagram 1)

8. Place top cap and lightly tap

down with a rubber mallet until it
clicks.
9. Repeat above steps on the
next panels until entire roof is
completed.
10.For edge detail use a PSP F
profile as in diagram 3.
11.Screw on Aluminum End Caps as in
diagram 4.(diagram 4).

Fixing Instructions - RAFTER

1. Cut glazing bars and panels
to required length and widths.
Ensure to allow at least a 50mm
overhang into the gutter line.
2. Place the bottom section of the
glazing bar with rubbers inserted
on each rafter.
3. Place precut panels on the glazing
bar base. Ensure that the panels
and bars are square, line the
panel edge up with the glazing
rubbers inside edge.
4. Place cut to length top section of
the glazing bar on top of bottom
section.

7. Complete above steps for the

entire roof.
8. For overhangs of 50mm or more
a ClearVue 5g x 20mm stainless
steel cap screw is required every
150mm (diagram 6).
9. For the side profiles, use a PSP
F section as shown in diagram 7.
This acts as a packer as well as
fixing through the side.
10.Place top cap and lightly tap
down with a rubber mallet until it
clicks.
11.Screw on Aluminum End Caps as
in diagram 8. (diagram 8).

5. Drill a 5mm hole through the top

and bottom sections, making sure
not to drill into the timber frame.
6. Fix down with ClearVue 8g x
50mm #2 Stainless Steel Pan
Head Self Tappers (diagram 5) at
300mm increments.

CLEANING & STORAGE

SAFETY TIP

We recommend that PSP Twinwall polycarbonate sheets

are cleaned twice a year. First hose down the sheets using
a low pressure setting to remove dirt and grit. A soft sponge
or cloth with a solution of lukewarm water and an ordinary
household detergent or mild soap should be used to remove
any further dirt and grime from the sheet.

Do not walk on PSP TWINWALL sheets at any time.

Always use a crawling board placed across several
supports.
