Technology: The Game-Changer for Future Classrooms

I believe technology, when used appropriately, greatly influences a students active

learning in the classroom through participation, higher-level thinking strategies, and creativity
(2-A). The generations populating todays schools have grown up surrounded by unlimited
access to knowledge, and immediate responses to any command. Actions such as instantaneous
feedback and limitless opportunities to research and creative opportunities can be utilized in a
teaching lesson to unlock new pathways for student understanding and academic success (1-A).
Technology in the English classroom walks a fine line between erasing the classic texts
of history and substantially supporting them. If used correctly, specific digital tools help to
expand the world of literature into an interactive community of readers and writers (3-B). I
believe technology emphasizes the importance to dig further into literature, and through creative
and educational programs students learn how to research and apply the themes from classroom
literature to form intellectual opinions regarding the world around them (1-B).
I believe technology customizes teaching to produce individualized lessons instead of a
one-size-fits-all overview plan (2-C). Activities such as educational websites that track student
responses focus on a single student, thus providing the teacher with the opportunity to teach
directly to the subject students struggle with, and provide additional online practice to cement the
knowledge. Replacing live teaching with online instruction requires a great deal of trust in the
out-of-class materials. Technology should be approached with a sense of responsibility,
especially in the secondary classes as students as it is important for students to spend quality time
working on content-related assignments (4 A-D). A teacher should take the time to cover the
students responsibilities while using guides on how to appropriately use digital tools. Students

must understand the importance of being good stewards of their virtual citizenship, and the
academic expectations of completing schoolwork with the use of technology (4 A-D).
Virtual tools construct a new definition for the learning in the classroom. To consistently
bring the best materials to the classroom, a teacher should understand the up and coming
technology, and make good use of the digital tools already in place in the classroom (5-C). The
technology market ever only expands and improves, therefore; an influential teacher must
continually re-educate themselves on how to adapt technology to a classroom environment for
the benefit of her students (5-D). Technology reaches students and works their brains in different
ways than a typical classroom setting, and when digital resources merge with traditional content
and pedagogy methods, the students receive a well-rounded education.
