Writing Assessment
WIDA Level 1 Entering
Student will be able to form letters and their sounds using writing strategies.
Virginia SOL Standard: 1.12: The student will print legibly. a) Form letters accurately
Purpose/Objective: To assess students writing skills as it relates to the language arts.
Students will demonstrate writing ability and differentiate between letters and sounds.
They will also demonstrate their ability to differentiate between uppercase and lowercase
letters.
Directions: Copy the words you read in the space provided. (Each blank will be worth 1
point for correct copying and legible writing, a total of 18 points).
Example: Test- takers read: Bag bag (student will write this in the spaces given).
